What is this all about
Curriculum Philosophy Paper
The study of a Curriculum
This assignment allowed me to explore a curriculum that was out of the ordinary but worked. It allowed me to see that just because an idea was outrageous does not mean it does not work. Source: http://www.thebluecrane.com/agorabookclub/TheFreeC...
Common Core
The studying of the Common Core helped summing up what exactly it was and how to read. It also pointed out the flaws and what it was trying to do.
White board activites
Through out the year the whiteboard played a huge role in the development of my understanding of curriculum. Instead of just forgetting about the ideas that we were discussing we put the ideas up on the whiteboard and really explored that topic.
The fox v. the hedgehog
This reading by Hlebowitch shows that researchers have to come together and start to develop a curriculum. This reading really hit upon and reassured my thinking that there is so many research methods out there and that they should start to develop a curriculum. John Dewey
During the semester we read a book named Experience and education by John Dewey. This book and mans ideas made me realize that we need to start thinking about re-designing our schools for the era that we are in, instead of living in the past. Source: http://dewey.pragmatism.org/
The Curriculum Studies Reader
In this book by David J. Flinders and Stephen J. Thorton gathered a bunch of curriculum researchers and placed them in the book, and then described what each researcher beliefs were. I am not pointing out any specific researcher in the book but complimenting the whole book in its entirety. Being able to see so many different ideas allowed me to start to build a notion of what curriculum is and what I thought it should be.
Opening/ closing
Each person in would be responsible to bring in a activity that allowed the group to get to know each other. This activity allowed me to get to know each of my peers. In doing this it allowed me to become more comfortable displaying my ideas in front of my peers. Source: http://www.123rf.com/photo_11247793_red-velvet-curtain-opening-scene.html
Data Equity Audit
Since I sub for a district I took pride in knowing the workings of the school. However with doing this project I found out that I did not know as much as I thought, and that asking questions directly to staff members instead of researching on your own will tell you a lot more about your school.
Discussions
Discussions got intence at times, but would you think would happen when 14 students have the freedom to do discuss their feelings. Though everyone had different opinions, everyone respected everyone. Without the discussions I would not have been able to get ideas out of my mind and organize, and make sense of them. Source:http://thinkdontbe.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
