TEKS Standards
Every curriculum unit for our core content subject areas are based on our Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills or TEKS that the State of Texas requires all schools to teach students. These standards outline the major focus of our lessons and activities. The link below will take you to the Lead4Ward website that has all of the content standards for each one of our core content classes by grade level.

6th Grade Math - 6th Graders will continue Unit 7, Ratios, Rates, Proportions and Percents. Students will learn how to calculate percentages and how to solve for the part or whole if the percentage is given (6.5b). Students will also use their knowledge of rates to make predictions in real-world situations.

Students can complete the extra credit assignment attached below and submit it to their teacher.
7th Grade Math
7th Grade Math - 7th Grade will continue analyzing data through dot and box plots. Students will explore how samples reflect populations. Additionally, students will form conclusions about a population based on data collected from samples (7.12a, 7.12b, 7.12c). Lastly, students will start Geometry by finding the area and the circumference of a circle (7.9b).

7th Grade ELA - This week in 7th grade ELA, the students will review comma usage to help them make edits to their Expository Writing.

7th Grade - The unit focus is on the topics of biodiversity, organisms, and environment. Students will be focused on Ecosystems and Biodiversity. (TEKS 7.10ABC)

7th Grade Texas History (U.S. History Unit)
7th Grade - Students will be engaged in activities that focus on the Texas Revolution, Republic, and Statehood. Students will focus on the Republic of Texas and how Texas became a state in the United States of America.

8th Grade Math
8th Grade Math - Students will explore surface area of cylinders, triangular prisms, and rectangular prisms. Students will study the differences between lateral and total surface area (8.7b).

Algebra - Algebra Students will finish simplifying expressions using the Laws of Exponents (A.11b). Lastly, students will start Unit 10, Polynomials (A.10A). Specifically, students will discover how to add and subtract polynomials.

8th Grade ELA - This week in 8th grade ELA, the students will present their Biography project and wrap up the unit on Literary Nonfiction.
