Quantum Physics
Quantum Physics is the study of our universe at its most basic level. Light comes in different wavelengths. Long wavelengths equal low frequency. High frequency's have short wavelengths. Studying wavelengths can help us understand visible and invisible rays. Thats how we learned about the ultraviolet spectrum and Gamma rays. We even used it to learn about AM and FM radio wavelengths.
Bohr's theory and the Line Spectra
In Bohr's explanation of the Line Spectra says that electrons can only be in curtain orbits around a nucleus. If an atom of Hydrogen or any other gas releases energy as a photon it moves down an orbit which needs less energy. Balmer studied the Hydrogen Spectrum and created an accurate equation to explain it. http://www.colorado.edu/physics/2000/quantumzone/balmer.html. R is a constant and, N is an integer representing the four visible Hydrogen Spectral lines.
