CELC Weekly Updates
Happy Sunday CELC families! I hope you had a great weekend! The staff is looking forward to our fourth week of hybrid learning. The students, families, and staff are holding strong. Together, we have made a not so ideal situation the best it can possibly be! It is evident that the students are enjoying learning in the classroom and socializing with their peers. I will never get tired of hearing their conversations, questions, laughter, and hellos! One of our Cubs greets me daily with "Hi Mrs. Risky". I love it so much that I don't dare correct the cutest mispronunciation EVER! I truly enjoy working with our youngest students in the district! They are such a blessing! Please review the updates and reminders below to help keep you informed about what is happening on campus and in the district:
EAK registration is open for students turning 5 between 12/2 and 1/31. Call the office for more information.
Please report all absences to the office. We are required to trace all absences. Illnesses may require a 10-14 day stay at home. All students that are out for any reason will be temporarily assigned to distance learning. They can receive credit for their time off campus if they complete work online.
This week is Pink Week. Kindergarteners will be doing “pink” themed activities.
Every Monday is College Spirit Day. Wear your favorite college shirt!
Join us for VIRTUAL FUN FRIDAYS. This Friday, October 23, is Make Mine Alpine Day! Share your favorite memory of Alpine or Alpine Schools. Post your memory on social media using #virtualfunfriday, #makeminealpine, and/or #alpinestrong
Mark your calendars- Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up in November. Teachers will be posting a sign up sheet for times the week of November 16-20. Students will be getting out of school at an earlier time than usual. We will be sending out the schedule next week.
- HALLOWEEN- Hybrid A students will be able to dress up on Tuesday, October 27 and Hybrid B students will be able to dress up on Friday, October 30. All costumes must be school appropriate (no crop tops, weapons, blood…) If you have any questions, please ask your teacher for guidance. The staff is also planning a modified costume parade for each hybrid group. Unfortunately, parents will not be able to attend this year. We promise to take a lot of pictures!
- Candy for Cubs Event October 30. We would appreciate candy donations if you are available. Please drop off at your child's classroom. See flyer below.
- We have a CELC Wishlist on Amazon. If you are interested in purchasing something, please view our list at https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3SFKL6ROWON5R?ref_=wl_share
Masks are required for parents and siblings when dropping and picking up your student (ages 3 and up).
Please respect the assigned drop off and pick up times. Please do not enter early.
The teachers open the classroom doors when they are ready for the students to enter and/or to be dismissed.
The tables in the lunch area are not open for parents. We work very hard to keep them sanitized. If someone sits there, it has to be sanitized again.
The district continues to serve food during Hybird Learning on Mondays from 11:00am to 12:00pm to AUSD families in need at JMMS.
CELC is looking into piloting a free snack distribution for all CELC students. Parents will be able to grab a bag of snacks at pick up time. We are working with the Child Nutrition Department to work out the details. Stay tuned for more information. This will be free for every student and their siblings under 18.
- Cafeteria breakfast and lunch meals are available to students. Please go to https://www.alpineschools.net/o/ausd/page/child-nutrition-services--15 for more information.
- The district is still providing free wifi access at CELC, SHES, JMMS, and BOES. Just park in the lot and log in. The wifi name is AlpineUnited and no password is needed.
The district has tech support available to parents. Please email helpdesk@alpineschools.net with your technology questions.
The office is currently closed from 8:30 am to 9:10 am and 1:20 pm to 2:00 pm. The staff is being utilized at those times to support student drop off and pick up.
If you haven’t already, please pack an extra set of clothes in your child’s backpack. It is great to have a change of clothes on hand for potty accidents.
We are looking forward to another fun and productive week! I need to search my closet for some pink shirts :). Don’t forget to wear college gear tomorrow and share your favorite Alpine memory on Friday.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ripke
