October Newsletter

Principally Speaking by Mr. Frydman

I hope everyone has had a great start to the new school year. We are very excited about this school year and there will be many academic and family activities for you to participate in. It was great to see many of you at Back to School Night, 2nd Cup of Coffee Parent Meeting, and WatchD.O.G.S. Pizza Night.

At the end of October, we will be having Parent-Student-Teacher Academic planning Time. Usually we have parent conferences during the month of December to discuss report card grades. This has been changed so that we can discuss the academic levels, progress and goals of your child.

I encourage you to make a conference with your child’s teacher after report cards as well. Even though teachers do not have a day to meet with you, they would be happy to discuss with you how well your child has mastered the grade level standards.

Here are some questions that will promote dialogue between you and your child’s teacher:

  • What skills and knowledge will my child be expected to master this year?
  • How will my child be evaluated?
  • What can I do to stay more involved in my child’s academic progress?
  • What kind of growth has my child shown in reading, writing, and math?

I look forward to seeing you at Parent Conferences.

Kindly,

David Frydman
