In-Person Instruction Edition - April 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
I also want to take this opportunity to say how grateful I am to serve as the principal of our fabulous school and community. We are so fortunate to have a staff that is willing to do whatever it takes to support our students. Our students are amazing young scholars with great attitudes and the willingness to persevere. Our families continue to show support, not only for their own children but our school as well. It takes a village! Thank you for helping us build such a positive school culture where our students are and will continue to thrive.
Important Change in School Calendar
On March 22 the Governor and ODE made some significant updates to the Ready Schools, Safe Learners guidance that we follow for our schools. Some of the updates will decrease the physical distance requirements from 6 feet to 3 feet for students in some areas and the removal of the 35 sq ft per person requirement, as well as other physical distancing changes.
What this means is teachers in our district will be making another shift in their classroom instruction to accommodate these changes, as well as an influx of students returning from distance learning to in-person instruction for the 4th quarter. Teachers need time to adjust their classrooms to provide and maximize the learning that will take place. Our district has added an additional teacher work day on Thursday, April 8th to accomplish these changes. This means students will not have school on Thursday, April 8th or Friday, April 9th (This was already on the calendar for grades to be completed.)

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact our office. Thank you again for your support in this matter.

BinaxNOW COVID 19 On-site Testing
As per our Ready Schools Safe Learners guidance, we have the opportunity to offer access to on-site COVID testing for symptomatic students and staff identified on campus. We now have rapid COVID-19 testing at our school sites.
These tests will ONLY be used if a parent has signed a consent form to allow us to facilitate the student-administered test. It is also important to know that a student will only be given a test if the student is already at school and the student has COVID symptoms. Students are NOT to come to school to get tested if they already have symptoms. Please continue to keep your children home if they are ill.
If your child has developed symptoms at school and you are interested in allowing us to facilitate a COVID test with your child, please fill out and sign this consent form and return it to the school office. Each school has a designated person in the front office that has been trained to conduct the actual testing and reporting. The student will be required to swab their own nostrils. Consent forms have already been printed and sent. If you need another copy, please ask your child's teacher or call the front office.
Drop off and Pick up procedures
- Adults are to stay in vehicles. (The only exception would be if you needed to buckle a student in a car seat.)
- Have students exit on the passenger side for safety reasons
- When dropping off/picking up you must go through the drop off line. Don’t park off to the side of the street or in a parking space and have your child walk to your car.
- Pull up to the furthest Drop off Zone.
Again, we want to thank you for supporting us with this.

Student Absence
Technology
We are doing this for multiple reasons:
- There are many educational apps that students can work on at home if families choose to.
- We want our families to stay familiar with Canvas and be involved with what students are doing in class.
- In case students are sick and/or quarantined they can still access asynchronous learning and get support from a tutor.
Teachers are continuing to keep Canvas pages updated with assignments and family information/resources.
IPAD INSURANCE
If you haven't paid your iPad insurance you can do so at the front office. All you need to do is bring $25 to the office and we will inspect the iPad. We highly recommend this insurance. You never know when an accident is going to happen. If you have not paid the insurance then you will be responsible for the cost to fix or replace the iPad.
