Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District

During the month of April, the Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District will be teaching three lessons to each of our 6th grade teams. These hands-on lessons, offered to us thanks to CCSWCD and Portland Water District, line up perfectly with our current Earth Science unit and are helping us to connect what we are learning about Earth's water cycle with how we can keep our water healthy and clean here in Maine.

8th Grade Celebration Parent Volunteer Meeting

An 8th grade parent meeting to discuss volunteer opportunities for the 8th Grade Celebration Dance has been scheduled for Monday, April 24 at 5pm in the SMS Learning Commons. More information along with the volunteer sign up can be found here. Parents/Guardians who are unable to attend but are interested in volunteering, can reach out to Michelle Mulcahey, for more information.

Hi everyone! It's time to start thinking about showing our appreciation for the incredible SMS teachers and staff. This year's SMS Staff Appreciation Week will be May 8-12, so it's not too early to collect donations.

Please sign up using this link for whatever you can contribute. Every little bit helps! We are again looking for items to make punny mailbox stuffers, as well as gift baskets to raffle, $5 gift cards, and items to complete the meals we have in mind. With your help, it'll be a great spread!

If you have any questions, please reach out to Kim French at, or give her a call/text at 207-664-3211.

We'd love to collect items by April 24 (the Monday after April Break); items can be dropped off any time at SMS main office or let Kim know when/where you can meet.

Thank you!

Kim French, Parent Co-Chair of the SMS Staff Appreciation Event
