The Tiger's Roar

November 2022

Orange Grove Families,

Between PRO Kids, Booster events, field trips, Red Ribbon Week, Halloween parades, parties, and dances, we have had so much fun, with even more to be thankful for recently! It has been so nice to be able to enjoy these events not just with our staff and students, but with our entire school community.

As we prepare for the Thanksgiving Holiday, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for all of the support that you provide. One of the many attributes of a great school is parental involvement and support. That support could not have been on display any more than it was this past month. I am honored to announce that because of the generosity of you, your friends, and extended family, our PTO’s Booster fundraiser generated just over $100,000 for our school!

As you may have seen, we are already busy putting those funds to good use with playground improvements at both campuses and covering the cost of student incentive events for grade levels throughout the year. We’ve included some additional stats about Booster in the Did You Know section of this newsletter for you to check out.

With gratitude,

John H. Clendaniel

Volunteers Needed!

The PTO is proud to bring back our Duty Free Thanksgiving Feast for Orange Grove teachers and staff. We are catering a delicious meal for them, but we need volunteers at both campuses to help monitor the students while they enjoy a quiet, duty free lunch that day.

Angel Tree

Dear Parents/Guardians,

There are several illnesses currently going around. Please keep your child home if they are not feeling well. If they visit a Doctor and get a Doctor’s excuse, they must not return to school before the date of return listed. If they return to school before the day of return on the Doctor’s excuse, they will be sent home.

If your child has a fever, they must be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medications (ibuprofen/Tylenol) before they can return to school. A fever is defined at 100 degrees or higher.

Thank you for helping us keep our students and staff healthy!

....that over $100,000 was raised during Boosterthon?

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of Orange Grove parents, family and friends near and far, and our local community, over $100,000 was raised through our Fun Run and Extreme Recess events. We wanted to share some exciting statistics with you, as we experienced record breaking giving across the board. Thank you for your steadfast support of The Grove!

November Student Athlete of the Month

Eva R.

5th Grade

Fall Sport - Volleyball

5th grader Eva R. competed at such a high level throughout the entire volleyball season. During the first round of the playoffs, Eva aced 6 serves in a row, helping her team to an easy victory. Coach Miller and Coach Foushee characterized Eva as one the most dependable and coachable students, picking up her teammates on the court while still being a leader in the huddle.

Off the court, Eva continues to excel in the classroom academically. She is taking no time off as she begins to prepare for her basketball season as a member of the Junior Girls Team.

Interested in Spring OG Athletics?

Even though basketball is just getting underway, we are beginning our registration process for OG Baseball, Softball and Soccer. Dates and times of our official start date are still TBA. However, Coach Matos wants to begin registering players and teams as soon as possible. Any student in grades 6-8 is eligible to participate. There are no official tryouts for each team. Instead, coaches will create even/fair teams across the board.

If your son or daughter is interested in playing one of these sports, please email Coach Matos and he will send a registration form home with your student. If you have any questions or concerns, please email him at

Thank you for your support of OG Athletics.
