SMS Library News
This week I talked to several classes about research. Research does not have to be scary…or boring! Three amazing databases are accessible through 1Link: World Book, Britannica School, and Gale. These databases have amazing tools, including citation builders. No more flipping through the tattered MLA citation book! These three databases do the citation work for you! All students need to do is copy and paste. Below are two documents to help students utilize the databases and use the citation builder.
Please support our Matchbook club by purchasing the coolest t-shirt ever! Here is the link. Act fast! The online store closes soon! Thank you for supporting our amazing Jag library!
Boys Track tryouts will begin on Monday, February 8 from 4:30-6:00 pm. You must have a
UIL physical turned in AND completed all Rank One online forms in order to tryout. 8th graders
who have participated in sports either in 7th grade or who played football or basketball do not
need another physical. Also if you tried out for basketball last year as a 7th grader, your
physical from last year will still work. 7th graders who did not play football or basketball need
to turn in a physical prior to tryouts. Contact Coach Andrews with any questions, firstname.lastname@example.org
SMS 2020-21 Yearbook
It's also not too late to buy your yearbook. It has definitely been a memorable year and we are excited for what is to come!

2. The student has to respond to roll call when the teacher calls his/her name.
3. The student has to be engaged and participate in class.
4. If the student is having technical issues, missing the classing link, they should email the teacher during the class about the issue.
Ren360 MOY Assessment (Jan 19-Feb 12)
In order to measure student growth in the areas of Reading and Math for the 2020-2021 School year, the Renaissance 360 middle of the year (MOY) assessments will be administered January 19th - February 12th. During this window, FBISD teachers and staff will proctor the administration of the assessment for face-to-face AND online students. A separate notification went to parents on January 17 via email that outlined the REN360 middle of the year (MOY) assessments that are being administered. It is particularly important for parents of online students to read it, as we are relying on you to a degree to ensure it is successful. In the online testing environment, family members/caregivers may only help students get online and log into the test site. Once the test begins, students are NOT permitted to use other people, devices, or any other resources to help them answer test questions. For more information about Star Renaissance 360 Assessments, visit the Renaissance parent webpage.
