Teeland Middle School
May 2023
Letter from the Principal
5/01/2023
Dear Teeland Families,
WOW! It is the last month of school! Our students have been busy with testing, academics, athletics, band & choir, clubs, and so much more. Thank you for continuing to support your student’s involvement in extracurricular activities. We literally have hundreds of students that stay after school to participate in various opportunities.
Over 100 band and choir students were in California over the weekend participating in The Heritage Music Festival in Anaheim. Followed by two days at Disneyland. We had several parents and staff accompany the group as they engaged in music, fun, and sun!
As a reminder, Teeland will be again opting for an 8th Advancement Celebration instead of the traditional 8th Grade Promotion. Parents wanting to view the Advancement assembly will either have a live link available, or access to the recorded event. This is a student centered assembly and picnic for eighth grade students to spend time with their peers before moving on to their respective high schools. A message will go out from the 8th grade staff about how to contribute to the food donations.
We have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with your students this school year. Our Teeland community is kind and generous. We appreciate the positivity, contributions, and energy that you give to our school. TMS is a great school because of our community. Thank you.
Please reach out to us if you have any questions, 907-352-7500.

SNYO
The TMS SNYO team had a great season with many athletes earning a spot in the state SNYO tournament in Anchorage. The Senior NYO includes athletes in grades 7th through 12th so the competition was tough. At the regional state qualifying competition at the new Houston High School on April 15th several TMS students qualified for the NYO state tournament including Kamryn Petito with 2nd place in the wrist carry, who was carried by Jet Hurley and Christian Waggoner, Ruby Thomas for the one-foot-high kick and scissor broad jump, and Carl Vanblarcom for the kneel jump. These three athletes competed in state SNYO tournament in which the Kamryn Petito earned a 2nd place medal in the wrist carry on the Mat Su B team. While Ruby Thomas and Carl Vanblarcom had a great experience competing on the Knik Tribal Team. Excellent work Titans! - Mr. Zahrt
