The Weekly Hoot
May 4-10, 2020
Greetings All -
Happy Sunday morning! I hope this Hoot finds all of you relaxing and enjoying the weekend. Morgan and the kids are here for the first time in forever, but they came a runnin' when the Louisiana border opened and I am so glad!!
Everyone, please remember that tomorrow between 8AM-12PM, you need to stop by to drop off your gifts and pick up your treats for Kelli Strahan's Baby Zoom Fiesta on Tuesday, May 5th!! I hope everyone can attend WITH VIDEO!! LOL!
Ya'll did a great job getting things together for us to send home this week. Thank you so much! It is such a surreal end to the school year, isn't it? Next week (May 11-15) we will begin collecting chrome books and such. Since that is the case, and since students and their parents are pretty much over the school work, I have found an alternative for that week. Brenda McDonald posted on Facebook yesterday a Life Skills Challenge for students that Quitman ISD is issuing their students. I think it is a fantastic idea and would like to implement it as well. So here is my first Teacher Appreciation gift to you! You don't have to plan any lessons for the week of May 11-15!! I will come up with the Life Skills Challenge sheet for you, send it to you before Thursday, and then you can send it out to your parents via Remind, we will post it to our FB page and website, and that will end the schoolwork for us. What do ya'll think?
Speaking of Teacher Appreciation Week...it is upon us. For years, we have come up with ideas to make you feel special and appreciated. This year, when trying to plan something from afar, the thought of not being with you this week has laid heavy on my heart. Before March 16, 2020, I just thought I appreciated you! The sense of community, the way everyone is pitching in, the innovativeness that you all are showing to teach our students, the way you are still doing your jobs (and jobs you never thought you would do)....all of that makes me realize that I have been blessed with a chosen group of individuals who are simply SPECTACULAR!! I say it every year, but I hope you know I mean it, that you all are the most wonderfully supportive staff anyone could have. I love to work with, laugh with, cry with, and do life with all of you. You are the first people after my family that I want to share milestones with. I appreciate the respect we have for each other, and I hope that each of you know how much you absolutely mean to me. I hope you enjoy your week even though it is going to be very different from Teacher Appreciation Weeks of the past, and I also hope that when we get back to the physical school building, you enjoy all of the other days and weeks at school as well. You make my job easy, and for that I am forever grateful.
Love to all -
