Monroe Elementary News

Under Construction
Hello Families! I hope you had a wonderful holiday!
I know you've already noticed, but the Monroe Elementary Newsletter has a new look! I am now using the program Smore to publish. Please bear with me as I learn the ins and outs of this new tool. That is not where the changes end, though. From here on out, I will update and post a newsletter every other Friday. This should help keep you more up to date on what is happening in our school. I will continue to post the newsletter on the Monroe Website and on the Monroe Facebook page.
I will no longer be including a calendar of upcoming events. They can be found on the District Calendar.
Warmly,
Micki Hughes

Playground Safety
- Students will be going outside for recess when the wind chill is above 20 degrees. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. They are out for up to 30 minutes.
- In addition to keeping students indoors for extremely cold weather, we also keep them in the first two days of gun deer season and for high winds that could potentially bring down some of our larger tree limbs.
Buddy Bench
Students were able to join in the celebration of Clarabelle's life and were treated to cupcakes by her family. Click HERE if you wish to view a video explaining what a Buddy Bench is.

Boxtops for Education
How the Box Tops For Education Program Works
There are hundreds of participating products in food and non-food categories that carry Box Tops on their packages. Each Box Tops clip is worth 10 cents. It’s simple. Buy the products; clip the Box Tops; send the Box Tops to school ATTACHED TO THE COLLECTION SHEETS. Each enrolled school has a Box Tops Coordinator that counts and submits all of their Box Tops to General Mills. For Monroe, this is Catie Berner. Enrolled schools receive two checks a year from General Mills to purchase the things they need like: books, school supplies, playground equipment, computers, etc. Enrolled schools can earn up to $20,000 every school year by clipping Box Tops from participating products. There are not any restrictions on how each school spends their check. Schools can spend their cash to buy what they need most.
