Welcome Letter from the Head of School
August 1, 2014
Dear Pebblecreek Montessori Parents,
Welcome, all new and returning families to the 2014-2015 school years. We are thrilled you are here! The start of the new school year is an exciting time as eager children look forward to meeting new friends, to reconnecting with old friends and to getting a glimpse of what's new and exciting in their classroom environments.
Following the recommendations of the International Montessori Council's Accreditation Team, we have revised the school's hours of operation to allow for uninterrupted work cycles at a minimum of 1 hour for toddlers and 3 hours for the primary and elementary aged children.
The revised hours are as follows:
- Half day: 8:15am-12:00pm
- School day: 8:15am-3:30pm
- Extended day: 7:15am-6:00pm
The adjusted hours will allow for all enrichment activities (music, dance, art and PE) to be offered in the afternoon hours for all age groups (except toddlers) without any interruption of the morning work cycle. The later opening will keep our teachers within the normal 8 hour work day with minimal impact on scheduling. The accredit team will return for their final visit in November to verify their recommendations are in place as well as revisit the impact of the recently implemented consolidation.
I am elated to announce the addition of new members to the PCM faculty.

We look forward to see all parents at our Back to School Night and Back to School Expo on September 4th, 2014. We strongly encourage all parents to attend Back to School Night where teachers will share their class schedules, explain the class expectations and answer any general questions. The Back to School Expo gives parents the opportunity to meet after school coordinators and sign up for classes, purchase used school uniforms from the PCPO and get involved by signing up to volunteer at school sponsored functions.
The schedule is as follows:
- 5:30 to 6:15pm Infant, Toddler and Primary classes
- 6:15 to 7:00pm Back to School Expo in the gym.
- 7:00 to 7:45pm Lower and Upper Elementary classes
Thank you for entrusting us with your beautiful children. I am very appreciative of your support as we embark on our 12th year in Montessori education.

New Family Welcome and Student Orientation
Friday, Aug. 22nd, 9-10:30am
600 Old Custer Rd
It is our desire to inform you of everything you need to know to make the start of a new school year an enjoyable experience. To accomplish this goal, we are hosting a new parent orientation day and a new student orientation day on Friday, August 22nd, 2014. The teams are looking forward to meeting a representative from each new family during the new parent orientation time. Being new to the school community, we know you have a lot of questions. The orientation will give parents an opportunity to ask questions and receive vital information. If you are a returning parent, there will be no need for you to attend the new parent orientation.
Please walk your child to his or her classroom by 9:00 a.m. and proceed to the new parent orientation session that will be held at the same time (9:00-10:30) your child is attending his or her orientation session with their teacher. You may pick up your child at the conclusion of his or her orientation session.
RSVPs are enabled for this event.
