New Playground Equipment Being Installed!

We are very excited to announce that the new playground equipment, donated so generously by the PTA and parents of the PRES school community, began installation on Monday, December 10th! We expect installation to take approximately 3-4 days and will be ready for children to play by Monday, December 17th.

We would like to invite all PRES families to join us on the playground on Monday, December 17th at 3:30-4:00 pm for a Playground Ribbon Cutting, hosted by the PTA. We will have light refreshments, a brief ribbon cutting ceremony, and time for children to play on the new equipment!

PRES C.A.R.E. is Looking for a Slogan

Our CARES committee is continually developing our character education program here at PRES. Many of our CARES committee members are also represented on the BCSD district-wide character education committee. One of the District's priorities this year is to develop consistency in the character education programs across buildings, while still preserving the unique, home-grown culture developed within each school.

The PRES character education program, C.A.R.E., is looking for a slogan to match our thriving character education program. Building on our values of cooperation, accountability, respect and effort, we are inviting all school community members (students, staff, and parents) to help us select a school slogan that best represents our CARES program here at PRES.

This is the easiest survey you will ever take… there is only ONE QUESTION! Please click on the link below (with your child) and vote for your favorite PRES CARES slogan. The choices listed in the survey were developed by our CARES committee. Please complete the survey by Friday, December 21st.

Big picture

PRES Winter Concert was a Success!

Congratulations to our PRES 4th and 5th graders on a wonderful winter concert! On Monday, December 10th, our 4th-5th grade orchestra, 5th grade band, and 4th-5th grade chorus students performed for the school and their families. Beautiful songs were sung and performed during the concert. The students have come a long way in their first few years of the instrumental music program and we were so thrilled to celebrate their accomplishments during this performance. Thank you to Mrs. Lynn Donnavan (chorus), Mrs. Karen Landers (orchestra), and Dr. Mike Mulder (band) for inspiring our young musicians and for leading us in a spectacular musical performance!

Picking up Early from School

Please be aware that our instructional day is from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The end of the day is an important time for students, as we are completing our academic instruction, reviewing homework assignments, and organizing materials for the transition from school to home. We ask that you make every effort to arrange for doctors' appointments and after school activities to be scheduled after the school day ends. Pick-ups begin at 3:05 and are usually completed by 3:15. When you pick up your child at dismissal, rather than picking up early, it allows your child time to complete assignments and bring closure to the school day in an organized fashion.

Please remember that our cut-off time for daily dismissal changes is 1:00 PM. No changes can be made after 1:00 PM, unless it is an emergency. Informing us of your child's dismissal plans before this cut-off time helps us to ensure that the message is accurately communicated to your child and child's teacher. Communicating dismissal changes early in the day help us to ensure the safety of all children.

Successful Holiday Sharing Drive

Thank you so much to our PRES families who donated so generously to support families in need right here in Westchester County. We donated clothing, gifts, and essential items to families in need at this holiday time. This is a wonderful way to teach our children about generosity, gratitude, and empathy. Thank you to our PTA chairs, Lena Nurenberg and Trish McGovern, for their tireless efforts organizing the sign-up geniuses, the collection bins, and for bringing over 17 bins packed with your donations to the Junior League of Northern Westchester. What a wonderful community service effort from our PRES school community!
