Civil Rights Leaders
By Caroline Stevens
Martin Luther King Jr.
MLK Jr was known for preaching the Bible and protesting nonviolently. He was a very strong figure in the civil rights movement and won't be forgotten in the days to come. He was also the first president of SCLC. I personally rank Martin Luther King Jr. the highest on his message because he did it in a nonviolent way.
Malcolm X
Malcolm X was a Black Muslim and was thought of as a traitor by other Black Muslims after taking back his statement saying he hated white people and that they were the devil. I agree with him that some whites treated blacks poorly and that was unfair; but I disagree with his approach and his saying all white people hated blacks. I rank him second, because I see some of his points, but he doesn't prove others well.
John F. Kennedy
JFK promised in his election to act on civil rights, and that's the main reason he was elected. Kennedy realized he had to either act on it like he promised or ignore it all together. He chose to do nothing about it and focus on health care instead. He created the CEEO, which pressured businesses to hire more black people so it would "look good". In my opinion, JFK is ranked lowest because he never was good for his promise on civil rights.
