The East Central Howling

August 2023

East Central Families,

For those of you whom I have not yet had the pleasure to meet, my name is Samantha Lindsey, and I am the new principal of East Central Elementary School. With a student-centered approach and collaborative leadership, I aim to create a nurturing learning environment that fosters academic and personal growth for all students.

East Central prides itself on excellence. We have built an amazing team comprised of quality teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians, office staff, nurse, special education teachers, etc. It is with unwavering teamwork that we will achieve excellence and encourage your child to reach his/her fullest potential academically, socially, and behaviorally this school year.

I believe that the home-school partnership is a critical component to your child's success. I encourage you to be involved in your child's education by staying in contact with the teachers. If you have questions, ask. If you need help or support with something, ask. If you need resources, ask. We are here for one reason .... your precious children.

Thank you for the support you've already shown for our school, faculty, and staff. I eagerly anticipate your involvement and look forward to furthering the school's tradition of academic achievement and community engagement.

RCS FOCUS: Keeping Schools Safe

During pre-planning, our faculty and staff spent a significant amount of professional learning time embedded around safety and security. We reviewed the RCS Focus: Keeping Schools Safe plan, emergency codes, fire evacuation & severe weather plans, etc. We will strive daily to keep your children safe. Please remember that when you enter East Central, you will be asked to sign in at the front office. Always be sure to bring in your driver's license. While it may take an extra minute or two, this will help us ensure our school is safe. I appreciate your support!

EC Get Fit 2023-2024

EC Get Fit! is here! We are now accepting PTO sponsorships, and that recognition will be year round as well as for Get Fit EC! You can say something like,

In the past, our PTO raised money through the GET FIT EC Fundraiser. This year, corporate sponsors will be highlighted for Get Fit as well as throughout the entire year! The best part is that 100% of our net profits feed right back into the school. Your donation proceeds help ease the financial burden of teachers to assist their efforts in creating a better learning environment for all students. Your support will help ALL of East Central’s students in one way or another!

Students will compete to raise the most money as grade levels and as individuals. We are also taking donations for class parties and individual prizes. Vision to Learn

Vision To Learn will be coming to our school on August 29th to do vision screenings. Vision to Learn will be screening all of our students in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. After the initial screenings, Vision to Learn will give the office a list of pass/ fail and opted out. Our community grant will allow us to follow up with the failed screening on our K through 3rd graders, and we will also be able to inform parents of 4th through 6th graders of their findings. On a return date, our failed screenings, in the primary grades, will get a follow up visit from a licensed optometrist. Students who qualify will receive a chance to choose from 100 colorful frames. We are all very excited to see how these vision screenings will benefit our learners. Please be on the look out for an opt out letter that will go home in Thursday folders. This will allow you the option of NOT participating in this program. We are very excited for this amazing opportunity and we hope you are, too!
