Dear Student, Families, & Friends,
Once again, I am pleased to have the opportunity to say "Thank You!" to members of our school and parish families! Our focus on school safety this year has been given a boost thanks to their generosity!
As you know, our entire faculty and staff, including Father Woolley, has been trained in "Stop the Bleed!" and ALICE under the guidance of the Coventry Police Department. These nationally recognized programs are designed to provide a safe and healthy learning environment in our school. Middle school students were also included in the ALICE training. In addition, students in grades K-8 have participated in Rachel's Challenge to foster a permanent culture of kindness and compassion at Father John V. Doyle School.
While we continue to plan for emergencies by performing emergency drills, we also need to make sure we have proper emergency preparedness supplies. I am happy to say that this next step is being addressed!
We are grateful to one of our grandfathers for securing funds from Navigant Credit Union to purchase "Stop the Bleed!" emergency tourniquet kits for each classroom. Nurse Patti has been working hard to put these kits together and she was able to purchase everything she needed for every room in the building!
Emergency tool kits have also been put together thanks to the efforts of the Saints John & Paul Parish Lunch Bunch! These wonderful ladies set up a memorial fund in loving memory of Carol Dragon, a friend and parishioner. The kits will supply each wing of FJVD with tourniquets, blood clotting material, First Aid packages, and chest seals.
It is comforting to know that while we pray we never have to use any of these skills, techniques, or materials, we are trained and equipped to do so. A member of the Coventry Police Department has commented that FJVD may be the most prepared and equipped school in Coventry, and possibly the state! We truly appreciate their guidance and support in our efforts to protect our students.
As always, Thank You for your support of Father John V. Doyle School! Mrs. Smith

Dear Families,
As you are aware, the Catholic Parent Federation of RI has been working diligently to ensure that Catholic education is available to all those who desire it for their children. Last year, we were fortunate to have a bill introduced in both the House and Senate to increase the Corporate Tax Credit Scholarship Program.
This year, we are happy to tell you that another version of the bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives. If it passes, H 5273 will raise the cap of the tax credit from 1.5 to 5 million dollars. This could dramatically increase the funding we have in Catholic schools to offer financial assistance to needy families.
The president of our Federation, Matt Fitzgerald, has penned a letter (below) for constituents to send to their legislators in support of the bill. Please send it to your representatives!
The only way a measure like this will pass is if we all work together to be sure our voices are heard. We appreciate any assistance you can offer in this matter.
Thank you,
Erin Clark,
Principal St. Joseph School

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can I help? Send in as little or as many can tabs as you have to Mr. Godin’s Room
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation. We have already received one check for almost $50 with low key promotion. Now it’s time to “kick it up a notch.”
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
