Our CES staff has PURPOSE. We have all read author Jon Gordon's book, One Word, and have chosen our words for the year.
These words will remind us of our purpose and fuel our passion!
One word can change everything!
Donuts with Dads on Monday, March 5th was a HUGE success. Thank you to our CES PTA (Mrs. Stacy and her volunteers) for putting on this event, and thank you to all the dads that were able to attend. We loved seeing so many dads at school that morning!
We hope our CES Cowboys had a wonderful Spring Break! We missed them all and look forward to seeing them back at school tomorrow, Monday, March 19.
Enjoy the rest of your day!

A Message from the Colleyville Police Regarding Traffic
It has been communicated that many of you are having issues with the traffic at Shelton and Pleasant Run. There is additional traffic on Shelton due to the construction at Pleasant Run and LD Lockett. This will continue until construction is complete. We would like to suggest finding an alternative route when driving to the school to help alleviate the traffic congestion on Shelton. For example, Beverly and Colleyville Terrace also extend from Bransford Rd to Pleasant Run. Taking a few extra seconds to go a different way may save some frustration. It may also help to coordinate a neighborhood carpool or take advantage of bus services if that’s available to you. Another option is what they call a “walk-pool.” Similar to a carpool, one parent walks with several neighborhood children. If you have any questions, please contact Officer Beregszaszy at 817-305-4900 x2262 or aberegszaszy@colleyville.com.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!

News from Nurse Rudolph
Dear CES Parents,
Cold and flu season is among us and is hitting pretty quickly and pretty hard. It is very important during this time of year to be sure to keep your student home if he/she is ill. Please remember that your student is required to stay home for a minimum of 24 hours once fever, vomiting, and/or diarrhea has subsided without any assistance from medications. If your student is sent home from school with any of these symptoms, the same expectations apply.
With that being said, it is always best practice to keep your student home if he/she is still obviously ill after any fever, vomiting and/or diarrhea has subsided. For instance, many times with flu it takes up to 5 days or longer to really be back to feeling better.
If you do keep your student home, it always helps if you call the office or email the teacher to let us know in order for us to keep up with what is going around in the school. Also, don't forget to send the doctor note or a hand written note back with your student once he/she is well enough to return.
There are measures you can take to help your student avoid getting ill during the year:
- Frequent hand washing
- Remind them to avoid touching their face. The mucous membranes of the eyes, nose, and mouth are how a majority of illnesses enter our bodies.
- Do not cough or sneeze into their hands; use a tissue or the bend of the arm
- Avoid others who are known to be ill
Below are great resources to help guide you in talking with your student about "hand awareness", the "T-Zone" and hand washing:

Thank you for all you do to keep CES a healthy learning environment for our students!

Volunteering at CES
In order to volunteer in GCISD, a volunteer must:
1. Read the Volunteer Handbook, watch the appropriate video included in the handbook and electronically sign the volunteer verification form.
2. Complete the volunteer background check. A link is included in the handbook.
Here is the link to the Volunteer Handbook:

At CES, we ask that you do not bring younger siblings into the school when volunteering. This includes field trip chaperoning as well. Please make other arrangements for younger siblings. Thanks!
Peachjar
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD has adopted an electronic flyer distribution program called Peachjar. Beginning February 15, with the new system, flyers from community organizations will be distributed through a weekly email and accessible through the school websites. This is part of our ongoing effort to focus our resources on education while reducing the environmental impact of our activities.
GCISD parents will receive a welcome email from Peachjar that includes a username and password. This is provided to give parents the opportunity to manage their account and flyer delivery preferences. To view a list of Frequently Asked Questions, click here and select the appropriate tab for PARENTS.
