School Counseling News!
Skilled Trades Fair at ACL
The Academies of Loudoun will be hosting their second Skilled Trades Fair on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 6:30-8:30pm. The Skilled Trades Fair will be held at the Academies of Loudoun and will be a public event open to all Loudoun County students in grades 9-12. Students will have an opportunity to speak with industry leaders about careers, apply onsite for Academies of Loudoun admission, and network to explore job opportunities after high school. Students will need to register before January 20th for this event using the link: https://forms.gle/UdQGz6s6evogsjPc9 . We look forward to you joining us for a night of networking!
Scheduling
Later this month we begin scheduling for next year. The Program of Studies for 2023-24 can be found here. Below is the timeline of scheduling for this year.
9th-11th Grade Electives Fair
1/13
All students will participate in the Electives Fair. Student will have the opportunity to speak with teachers and students who have take these course to determine what electives may be best for them.
9th and 10th Grade
1/25-1/30.
Students will meet individually with their counselors through HPE
For student who have completed HPE we will meet with you through other courses.
2/23
For 9th and 10th we will have an presentation to go over graduation requirements and planning for the rest of high school
11th Grade
2/6 -2/28
11th grade students will make an appointment with their counselor to choose their course for next year and plan for beyond high school. These appointments are a bit longer. We will send out registration links later this month.
On January 5th was Curriculum Night for Current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders at Rock Ridge High School. Curriculum Night was the start for students/parents to review courses, talk with teachers and start thinking about classes for next year. Again, here is a link to the 2023-24 Program of Studies. Seniors
We are at 73% of Seniors applying to college!!. Please see your counselor or Mrs. Marchante if you are still not certain about life after senior year. If you have received admission or offered scholarships please let Mrs. Marchante know that information.

- Our PTSO gets a percentage back for each RRHS student who attends!

Senior Fees
If you have not yet paid the $85 Senior Fee please check your SchoolCash Online Account. Any fees outstanding will be visible here.
Senior fees pay for the cap and gown worn at graduation, the senior tee-shirt that the students have received, meals at final graduation practice and other Senior Year related expenses. An option to donate $20 is also included to support those suffering financial hardship.

Place a senior/baby ad in this year’s yearbook to commemorate all their hard work and success! Ad space is available now and must be purchased online. Dear parents/guardians, as your students prepare to return to school, please be mindful that we are still experiencing cold and flu season as well as COVID. If your student has any of the following symptoms, please keep them home from school and have them tested for COVID and the flu
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Cough
- Runny nose/congestion
- Fatigue
- Nausea/vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Fever
Please submit COVID test results, positive or negative, to me at robyn.wisti@lcps.org and notify our attendance secretary of their absence.
It is important to remember your student must be fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medication, in order to return to school.
