From the Principal's Desk...

Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the first day of fall, I am sure I am not the only one that is excited about the change in the weather. As the temperature starts to drop, please be reminded that only specific items can be worn as part of the school uniform. If you have any questions as to what is acceptable to wear, please contact the school office.

I also want to mention a couple of upcoming events that will take place in the next two months. First, on October 22, we will hold our annual Walk-a-Thon. Our goal every year is to raise $10,000 for our technology needs at St. John’s. If the students reach their goal, they will get the Monday before Thanksgiving off school, which would give them a whole week off school. As the principal, I am excited to experience my first Walk-a-Thon, and I look forward to walking and talking with the students on this fun-filled day. Please look for more information on this event from our amazing Walk-a-Thon Chairs Amanda Kirkpatrick and Kelly Heid.

The second major event of the fall is our 3rd annual St. John’s School Spectacular on November 13th. Our theme this year is Over the Rainbow, and the students will be working in Art class with Ms. Pearce to create decorations for the event. Please see below for more information on how you can help us make this event a success through your donations. Incentives include an out of uniform pass and a ticket entered into a basket of the student’s choice. If you would like more information on this major fundraiser for our school, please visit the St. Johns School Spectacular Facebook page. Money from this event helps keep tuition costs down for all students at St. John’s. Thank you to all of our sponsors that have already pledged money to this event and all the volunteers who are working to make this event a success.

I hope you all have a great rest of your week and a fantastic weekend!

Preview Night Coordinator Needed

Several school families have suggested that a preview night for the St John Spectacular be added for those who do not attend the event but would still like to see and bid on auction items. The committee agrees and thinks this is a wonderful idea. However, to make this idea a reality, we are looking for a school parent/couple to take on coordinating this event.

The preview night would be held on Saturday, November 6 after 4:30 Mass when all the auction items and class baskets are displayed in the Gathering Space of the church. We already have committee members willing to bartend (beer and wine only) and help set up and clean. You will have the guidance and direction of the committee. If you would like to be more involved in supporting your children’s school and enjoy working with other school families, please contact Mary Beth Salyers at either 513-708-4908 or
