Pearl R. Miller Middle School
Weekly Update 5/20/22
PRM Science 8 Research Fair Students in the Science 8 Research class presented their research projects at the PRM Science Research Fair on Wednesday. Students in this class have been working throughout the year to delve deeply into researching self-selected topics. The results of their work were clearly evident during the event. Each student in the class created a display that indicated a wealth of information about the topics they selected, the design and results of their research, and the conclusions they were able to draw as a result. What was even more impressive was the manner in which each student was able to explain and answer questions about their work, as they each had become experts in their chosen area of research. We congratulate all of the students for their excellent work. The PRM Science Research Fair is also associated with Broadcom Masters. Judges reviewed each project, and the winning entries will advance in the Broadcom Masters competition. We congratulate first place winner Preston Jones for his research project entitled Preventing Harmful Algal Blooms Using Water Plants and second place winner Darius Sarmasti for his research project entitled Absorption Efficacy of Varying Materials. | 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony Information Preparations are well underway for the PRM 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony on June 20th. Acceptable attire for this event is a dress shirt with collar, slacks, skirts, dresses, sandals, sneakers, or shoes (NO slides, flip-flops or Crocs, please). 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony Information
Dear Eighth Grade Parents/Guardians:
You are cordially invited to attend the Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony on Monday, June 20, 2022, on the field behind Pearl R. Miller Middle School at 9:30 AM.* Guests may access their seats beginning at 9:00 AM.
Each eighth grade student will receive three tickets for the ceremony.** Please note the following important information regarding seating for the event:
Parking/Arrival
Parking spaces at PRM are limited. Parking spaces are also being made available in the upper lot at KHS.
When you arrive at PRM, there will be ticket checkers by the opening in the fence to the back field (or by the door to the gym if the ceremony is moved inside). Please show your ticket to a ticket checker.
In the event that your child has a sibling currently attending PRM who would like to attend the ceremony, please let the ticket collector know and we will call your child down when you arrive. Please note that your 8th grade graduate’s sibling will need a ticket.
Seating
Each 8th grade student will receive three tickets.** It is very important that recipients safeguard their tickets, as lost tickets will not be replaced.
All seating for the promotion ceremony is first come, first served.
The seats that will be set up on the field are not to be moved. If the ceremony is moved indoors, all guests will sit in the bleachers.
If a guest requires special seating due to mobility issues, please complete this form. Seats for those guests will be closest to the fence so that they will have the shortest distance to travel on the field. In the event that the ceremony is moved indoors, seats will be reserved on floor level adjacent to the bleachers. PLEASE NOTE: Special seating accommodations will be for the guest with mobility issues only; we cannot guarantee seating in that area for the other two guests who are there for the student.
Viewing the Ceremony
All guests must remain seated throughout the ceremony. When your 8th grade graduate’s name is called, you may stand at that time. Please sit after that so that the next 8th grade graduate’s family can see their student.
We will attempt to livestream the ceremony, although the wifi signal on the field is unreliable. We cannot guarantee that the livestream will be accessible. However, regardless of whether or not we livestream the ceremony, we will record it and post the recording after the event.
After the Ceremony
We will have sign out sheets available at the end of the ceremony for anyone who would like to take his/her child home after the event.
Students who remain in the building will follow their typical schedule.
