WHITNEY WORD OF THE DAY:
Word of the Day
This week, we started presenting the Word of the Day during our Morning Announcements. We began with a few words that our 3rd Grade Team chose to highlight on the bulletin boards outside of their classrooms. *GRIT *FRIENDLY *BRAVE *MINDFUL
*GRIT. Grit is passion and perseverance for long-term and meaningful goals. It is the ability to persist in something you feel passionate about and persevere when you face obstacles.
“Give it your all. Redo if necessary. Ignore giving up. Take time to do it right.”
*FRIENDLY. Friendly describes people who are kind, caring and make others feel comfortable. When you are friendly, you treat everyone like a friend – with warmth and respect.
What can you today to be friendly? Let’s see how many ways you can come up with to be friendly to your classmates, your teachers and the Eli Whitney staff today!
*BRAVE. Being brave means facing your fears. Brave people do the right thing, even when it isn’t easy. Brave people may feel afraid sometimes, but they do what needs to be done. There are many ways for us to be brave – how can you be brave today?
“The thing about being brave is that it doesn’t come with the absence of fear. Bravery is the ability to look fear in the face and say – move aside, you are in my way!”
*MINDFUL. Being mindful is paying close attention to something or someone. It means slowing down to really notice what you are doing. Being mindful is the opposite of rushing. When you are mindful, you take your time. You are focused and relaxed.
Try to be mindful today. Pay attention to those around you. Be focused on all of the tasks you are working on throughout the day. Do you notice anything different about how you feel when you slow down?
Next week we will begin incorporating grade level vocabulary from both reading and math. Ask your children about the Word of the Day throughout the week and join our cooperative efforts to enhance the vocabulary of our wonderful students!

RETURNING STUDENTS REGISTRATION UPDATE
FOR the 2020-21 School Year.
To our parents and guardians,
We are excited about the possibility for you to be able to update your student's information via the web. Online enrollment for the upcoming school year is now available! This process replaces most of the paper forms sent home at the beginning of each school year. You will use the PowerSchool Parent Portal to access the forms. Please review and update by September 15, 2020.
How do I get started?
I have a PowerSchool Parent Portal Account:
. Log into your account at https://enfield.powerschool.com > Parent Sign-in
1. Select the student you wish to update along the top.
2. Select the Returning Student Registration Icon on the left side for 2020-2021, (it may be under quick links)
3. Agree to the terms and conditions
4. Click Begin Forms
I do not have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account or login:

Please reference the helpful video and guides on http://www.enfieldschools.org/parent_support/pspp
Please contact the main office of your child’s school for your children’s “Access Codes” to link your account to theirs.
Help! I am having technical difficulties. For technical support, email: edtechhelp@enfieldschools.org.
Do I have to answer all the questions?
Required questions are marked as "Required".
What if I make a mistake?
If you would like to make a change prior to submitting the form, you can either navigate back to the page using the “< Prev” and “Next >” buttons or if you are on the Review page click on the underlined field. If you have already submitted the form you will need to contact your student’s school so they can make the changes for you.
I’ve completed the form, now what?
Once you have finished entering your information click “Submit.” This will send all of the information you’ve entered to the school. If you cannot click on this button you will need to make sure that you have answered all required questions.
What if I have more than one student in the district? Do I need to do this for each child?
Yes you will need to provide information that is specific to each child. We recommend that you complete and submit one form and then start another. This will allow you to “snap” (or share) selected family information, which saves you time.
Thank you!
