From the Director
As the 2018-19 academic year has come to an end, we have much to celebrate and many happy memories. I am so proud of the many accomplishments and achievements our students experienced this year. We have seen significant academic growth on NWEA MAP tests, unprecedented participation on our athletic teams and after school programs, and we continue to see growth with our music and art programs as well.
Each year our sense of community grows and our school culture brightens. I want to thank all of our excellent teachers for their ongoing commitment to serving our children, and also the many parents who've supported us this year. I hope all of you have a restful summer break and come back recharged and ready for another excellent school year on Monday, August 19th!
Best regards,
Benjamin Scoville

World Language Levels for 2019-20
* If your child was enrolled in ELL this year and you did not receive a letter regarding World Languages, this is because your child will continue with ELL for the 2019-20 school year.
Uniform Updates for 2019-20
Beginning in the 2019-20 school year, CDS will offer a new P.E. uniform/top. Students will be able to use their new CDS P.E. uniform for all MS KAIAC athletic teams, with the exception of X-Country and Swimming. The uniform is sold as a pair with one gold shirt, and one navy shirt (see image attached). The price is 36,000 won for the pair / 31,000 won if purchased through the collective uniform order. The uniform order will take place during the last week of June. You can access the order form through the Cheongna Dalton School Homepage. Please note that the back side of the shirt will include the student's last name, and a number of their choosing.
Students may continue wearing the old P.E. uniform shirts for the remainder of their time in the middle school. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best regards,
Benjamin Scoville

Summer Reading
CDS encourages all students to spend time reading for enjoyment over the summer.
Reading helps us to clarify our personal values, deepen our sense of empathy and justice, and helps us respect different points of view. It's probably the single most important habit you can develop in middle school!
Research shows that students who read (even a little bit) each day show significant vocabulary growth, greater reading comprehension, understanding of grammar, and general knowledge of the world.
We want all our students to become habitual, devoted, thoughtful, intelligent readers and summer is great time to get started!
For those who like to stay informed, I recommend reading an article a day on Newsela (which all MS students should have access to). For other suggestions, click the button below.
