Important Upcoming Dates

Dear Carman Families -

Our first week of 2022 is in the books! It was wonderful to have all of the students back and to hear their stories of how they spent their break.

Kindergarten Registration will be virtual this year and opens on Wednesday, Jan. 5th. Kindergarten Registration will need to be completed by Jan. 26th.

“The Wonderful World of Kindergarten" will also take place virtually, on Wednesday, Jan. 12th from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. You can find the registration link below in this issue of the Paw Print.

Just a few reminders for the coming week:

We will have a Half-Day on Thursday, Jan. 13th - students will be dismissed at 1:05 p.m.

There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, Jan. 14th or Monday, Jan. 17th.

With CT Pride,

It's the Wonderful World of Kindergarten!

The Wonderful World of Kindergarten will take place virtually on January 12th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. We will have 2 kindergarten teachers present to speak about what to expect on a typical day at a Parkway kindergarten. The registration link can be found below.

Lost and Found Items - Please Claim by Jan. 13th

Please be sure to have your student check the Lost & Found for jackets/water bottles/eye glasses, etc. We are extending our final date before donating all remaining items to the upcoming Half-Day on Thursday, January 13th, when students will dismiss at 1:05 p.m. After the 13th, all remaining items will be donated.

Upcoming Access Assessment for EL students

Next week, students who qualify for English Language services (EL) will be starting the annual Access test, which measures growth in English proficiency and is required by the state of Missouri. There is no need to study additionally for this assessment! Students just need to get a good night’s sleep and take their time on each session. Every year, EL students amaze us by what they can accomplish compared to the previous grade!

There are four domains (Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing) which are usually completed over four days, with each part taking around 45 minutes to one hour. This will be administered during the regular school day. We are beginning the test next week; however, since we have a large number of students who take this in small groups, some EL students will start the following week (Tuesday, January 18th.)

    Thank you for your support!

Mrs. Auclair, Mrs. Emanuel and Mrs. Volk

    A Request from Nurse Connelly

We are out of small girls' underwear in the Nurse's office (size 5-6, to fit Kindergarteners). If you are able to send some in with your student this week or when we come back from Winter Break, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your help,

    Nurse Connelly

Carman Trails Teacher of the Year: Mr. Andy Hogan

Congratulations to Mr. Andy Hogan, 4th Grade Teacher and Carman’s Teacher of the Year! We are so proud for you to represent our school this year. It was shared by one of his colleagues that “Mr. Hogan cares about his students and is great at building relationships.” We couldn’t agree more. Thank you for providing a space where everyone belongs, Mr. Hogan!

Carman Trails Support Staff Member of the Year: Ms. Rena Noonan

Congratulations to Ms. Rena Noonan, Carman’s Support Staff Member of the Year!!! Ms. Noonan is one of our paraprofessionals in the school. It was stated that, “Rena goes above and beyond for the students she works with! She loves them with her whole heart and uses creative ways to understand and meet their academic and social/emotional needs.” Thank you for all the ways you support our students!

    Vaccination Records

As a reminder, Parkway is asking parents to consider sharing vaccination records if their child is fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Sharing proof of vaccination is entirely voluntary. Your child’s vaccination record will be kept confidential. If your child is vaccinated, please complete this voluntary form to share your record with our school. The form will ask for your child’s name, school, grade and will have a place where you can upload a photo/image of your child’s vaccination card. You will need to log into your personal Google/Gmail account or use your child’s Parkway Gmail account to complete the form.

Providing your vaccine information will help us measure vaccination rates within our school communities. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Nurse Connelly.

Come be a part of our character recognition efforts! Now, whenever you see a student (or staff member) demonstrating character outside of school, you can nominate them using this Google Form - linked here:

Nominees will be randomly selected and spotlighted in future Paw Prints and possibly other school communications. By submitting a photo (by choice, not required), you are granting permission for us to use the photo in school-related communications.

Thank you for your help in recognizing and spotlighting character in our students!

Due to the depleted supply of paper masks that we have left in the building, please remember to have your child wear their mask to school every day as well as bringing an extra cloth mask in their backpack. This is extremely helpful for us as the paper masks tend to come apart during the day. Thank you so much for your help with this matter.
