Principals Message
The school year is winding down, so please encourage your students to finish strong and complete their assignments, because exams are fast approaching.

State Champion!! AGAIN!!
Congratulations to MaKenzie Harris on winning the 7A 100m Hurdles State Title!! MaKenzie also finished 3rd Place in the 100m Dash and 200m Dash!! We are so proud of you!!
7A Area 8 Champions!!
The AHS Softball team advanced to the Regional Tournament. It will be played at the Florence Sportsplex.
The 7A North Regional Tournament consists of 4 teams and the top 2 teams advance to the State Tournament.
They will play their first game of the tournament on Thursday, May 12 vs. Hoover @ 9:00 a.m. Go Bears!!
AHS Tennis Tryouts
- Tennis Tryouts for the 2022-2023 season will be Monday, May 9th, at 4:15-5:15.
- The tryouts will be held at Point Mallard at Jimmy Johns Tennis Center.
- For more information stop by Coach Pressnell's room, Room 215.
- You must have an updated physical on Dragonfly to try out.
Senior Walk to Elementary Schools Information
- The Senior walk will be Friday, May 20th!
- All Seniors will report to the auditorium at 8:15 a.m. to load the buses.
- STUDENTS SHOULD WEAR THEIR GRADUATION ATTIRE - See canvas class for specific information. THIS INCLUDES YOUR CAP & GOWN!
- Please fill out this form indicating the elementary school you attended, so you will be placed on the correct bus. Students who do not fill out this form will be placed on the bus with the fewest students and WILL NOT be able to change. We are only able to visit schools in our feeder pattern. If you attended more than one elementary school, please choose the school you attended longest.
- Please email Mrs. Dixon with any questions. Complete this form by Wednesday, May 11th!

Alabama A&M STEM Opportunity
- 10th and 11th graders: Alabama A&M University will host a STEM Experience camp this summer. This is a non-residential camp with a deadline of May 13th to apply.

SWeETy Camp Registration
- The 15th annual SWeETy camp will be held June 13 – 16 on the Calhoun Decatur campus. The camp is open to girls in grades ninth through twelfth grades and registration is limited to 24 campers. Camp registration fee is $25.00. SWeETy camp is presented each year by Calhoun and the Chamber of Commerce to help create awareness among high school girls of the great careers available in career and technical fields in our area and around the county.
- Presenting sponsor for the 2022 camp is Indorama Ventures.
- The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce is excited to offer need-based scholarships for students interested in participating in the 2022 SWeETy Camp at Calhoun Community College. A limited number of scholarships are available and will be provided on a first come first serve basis. Camp registration and information about the scholarships can be found at calhoun.edu/sweety.
- This year’s camp will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 8:30 – 1:30 on Thursday in the Advanced Technology Center on the Calhoun Decatur campus.
