Providing every student with the keys to open the doors of their future.

A Note from Principal Purfurst

Thank you to all of our families that have completed the survey asking about your plans for the 2022-2023 school year! If you haven't yet done so, please take a moment to complete our survey letting us know what your plans for next school year are. This survey will help us to better plan for staffing needs going into the school year! You can find that survey here!

An Update from Dean Hawkins

Drill’s This Week:

There are no scheduled drills this week.

ACCESS Testing:

We have completed all scheduled testing sessions. We are currently making up tests for students that have been absent or are new to Padilla.

Discipline Trends:

We have a few students that are currently struggling to treat their bathrooms with respect. We will ask teachers to review bathroom expectations again this week and there will be consequences for those students that are caught in the act. We will work with families of students that are responsible to ensure that there is an opportunity to learn from these mistakes while helping others to also know that these behaviors do not meet our CHILL expectations. We appreciate your help and time by also reminding your students of the respect that needs to be shown to their school.

Bear Ticket Drawing Winners

Every month, classes at Padilla earn "Bear Tickets." These tickets are earned by ALL STUDENTS in that class showing our CHILL Keys. At the end of each month all the Bear Tickets are entered into a drawing and the winning class earns a pizza party and the right to keep Snowball the Polar Bear in their room for the entire month!

For the month of January, our Bear Ticket drawing winners were Mrs. Brantley's class! Nice job showing our Keys as a class! They will have a pizza party at lunch on Tuesday!

Cub Club Update

Thursday our Cub Club members engaged in a scavenger hunt around Padilla! Part of the responsibilities of being in Cub Club is to be a leader in our school. Cub Club members will have the responsibility of greeting new families and students and providing them a guided tour of Padilla. Their job today was to familiarize themselves with each wing of the building including the grade level of students it serves and the names of the teachers and staff in those areas. Guided tours will allow new students and families an opportunity to see their classroom, where they will eat lunch, where they have their specials classes, the library, the main office, and other important areas of our building. We want our Cub Club members to be the first people to welcome our new students because who knows Padilla better than they do!

Adult Learning

This week each grade level dug into our second semester learning and helped us identify look fors and areas for professional learning regarding data driven high quality small group instruction. Based on their learning which included a Chalk Talk and a charting activity we were able to classify professional learning into 3 categories. These categories will be known as the 3 F’s for Professional Learning.

Fast - Fast Data Collection, Fast to Analyze, Fast to Plan For

Flexible - Flexible Grouping within Concepts

Focused - Focused Tasks for Small Group and Whole Group Aligned to the Goal

We are excited to see the impact this intentionality will have on student growth and achievement!
