Principal’s Update

Safety Drills

Each month, Warren Point is responsible for running one fire drill and one safety drill. Our first fire drill was conducted last week, and everyone did a phenomenal job. The students were silent and listened to the directions of their teachers and myself. We exited the building safely... I couldn’t be more proud!

In addition to fire drills, we are also required to practice one safety drill per month. These drills include: lockdown, bomb threat, evacuation and shelter drills. We practice these drills to ensure everyone knows what to do and how to react during an emergency.

Warren Point conducted its first lockdown this week. The teachers reviewed expectations with the students prior to the drill, and it is because of their dedication to each child’s safety that this drill was also successful.

During the week of October 9, Warren Point School along with the entire Fair Lawn district, will participate in a district-wide evacuation. With the assistance of the Fair Lawn Police Department, Fair Lawn Fire Department, and Office of Emergency Management, our students and faculty will evacuate and relocate to Fire Company 3. This drill is conducted each year, and the teachers are extremely vigilant in safely walking your children there and back.

PTA Meeting

Thank you to the many, many parents who joined us for our first PTA meeting for the year. This was one of the best turnouts I think we have ever had! Many important items were discussed including: book fair, photo day, field day and Newspaper Club. There are many ways to get involved at Warren Point. Please consider signing up to volunteer your time or talents.

CHANGE for Houston

Last week, WP worked together to collect loose change for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. I am so very impressed with the generosity of the Warren Point community. Students and teachers brought in bags of change, dollar bills, even five and ten dollar bills were in the collection jars. Because of your generosity, we were able to raise $481.56 in just five short days to help those who most need it!

5th Grade

Thank you to all those who came out to support the Warren Point Class of 2018! This year’s car wash was a tremendous success!! Thank you to all the fifth grade students and their parents who worked hard to help raise money to support our fifth grade events.

CTP4 Testing

This past week, our fourth and fifth grade students participated in a district-wide standardized assessment. The CTP4 is used as a diagnostic tool by our teachers to help drive instruction in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics. Makeup testing will be next week for those students who were absent.
