Welcome, Freshman! Some things to keep in mind, it is never too early to think about life after high school. Are you interested in going to college, enlisting in the military, or getting a job after you graduate? Start making high school choices based on your goal. Make sure you explore our career pathways with CTAE. Do you have a plan to meet your college goal course rigor? Or perhaps you want to get a job, apply for our work-based learning program. Keep these options in mind. We look forward to helping you reach your goals.

RISING SOPHOMORES
Sophomores, you have one year under your belt. Your freshman year is mostly about required courses. Now you have an opportunity to start exploring more electives and pursue your interests. Do you have a plan for after graduation? It is never too early to start guiding your high school choices to meet that goal. Make sure to check in with your counselor to implement your plan. Be sure to explore AP classes and CTAE pathways.

RISING JUNIORS
Juniors, you are halfway through your high school career. Do you have a plan for after graduation? Make sure you are serious about taking your SAT/ACT tests and do not be afraid to stretch yourself with AP classes. If you plan on going to college after high school this is a great way to get acclimated to the rigor. If you plan on enlisting in the military are you practicing for the ASVAB and maintaining your physical fitness? If you plan on getting a job after high school are you enrolled in our work-based learning program? Get high school credit for your current job. Two more years and you will walk across the stage for graduation, are you preparing yourself for post-secondary plans? It is never to early to look ahead.
Reminder parents, children 16 years of age and older, who are entering the 11th grade (including new entrants), must have received one booster dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4), unless their initial dose was administered on or after their 16th birthday. Children who will turn 16 over the summer will receive a letter with their report card. You will have 30 days from their 16th birthday to receive the vaccination. This must be done prior to the first day of school (if turning 16 over the summer). Failure to do so may result in your child not being able to come to school until it is taken care of.

FoodFinder
With the summer break approaching, we know some students may face food insecurity while away from school buildings. FoodFinder is a mobile and web app created by a graduate of Georgia public schools that allows families to find food distribution sites (including food pantries, drive-through distributions, and school meal providers) based on their location.
Download the app from your app store.

Affordable Internet Provider Program
For Learners and Families: getinternet.gov
https://www.hcbe.net/affordableconnectivity
The FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) allows qualifying households to reduce their internet costs by up to $30/month ($75/month on Tribal lands). Getinternet.gov is a simple, easy-to-use website with details on how households can sign up for ACP and find participating providers in their area. Several companies additionally committed to offer ACP-eligible families at least one high-speed plan for $30/month or less, with no additional fees and no data caps. This mean that if households apply their ACP benefit to one of these plans, they would have no out-of-pocket cost for internet.
Additional Resource:
T-Mobile: Free internet hotspots
We believe access to education is access to opportunity. That’s why we’re offering free hotspots and internet to 10 million eligible households. Your child can qualify for Project 10Million through eligibility for the National School Lunch Program, which also can be verified through participation in many government programs.
