Important Reminder: Outstanding Fees
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. As we start off the second semester of the school year, I want to take a moment to remind you about any outstanding fees that may be due.
Please be advised that all outstanding payments must be settled by May 15th to avoid any inconvenience during the end-of-year checkout process. Students with outstanding fees may be prohibited from checking out, current activities, which may include participating in graduation ceremonies, and accessing other end-of-year activities.
Outstanding fees do accumulate, year to year, and will affect eligibility for extracurricular activities.
To ensure a smooth and successful end to the school year for your child, we kindly request your prompt attention to any outstanding fees. If you have already made the necessary payments, please accept our sincere appreciation.
For payment details please check your email for invoices, PowerSchool to see if you have any outstanding fees or if you have any questions regarding your account, please contact our School Offices at (907) 874-3395 or (907) 874-3393.
Your cooperation is crucial in facilitating a seamless end-of-year process for all students. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Best regards,

SAT
I am writing to inform you that Wrangell High School will be offering SAT testing on Saturday, May 4. 2024. The regular deadline for registration is April 23. The registration link is as follows: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/dates-deadlines
Even if you or your student intend to apply exclusively to test optional institutions after high school, please understand that a good score on the SAT can provide access to merit based scholarships. For example, the Alaska Performance Scholars program uses a combination of test scores, student GPA, and required extra coursework to determine eligibility for ALL graduates in the state of Alaska.
The minimum GPA for that program currently is only a 2.5. This means that almost everyone who graduates from Wrangell High School could be eligible for this scholarship. I am attaching the guidelines to this email. Even if your student plans to go to trade schools, this scholarship can still apply. They just have to take some extra classes.
If you have questions, or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me. I hope this finds you well.
Public Notice for Curriculum Committee
Attention, Wrangell Community!
The Wrangell Public School District's curriculum committee has been diligently working to enhance our English Language Arts curriculum. After thorough consideration and evaluation, we are excited to announce that we have narrowed down our options to two promising candidates: the HMH and McGraw Hill language arts curriculums.
To ensure transparency and gather valuable feedback from our community members, samples of both curriculums are now available for review. Here are the locations where you can access the samples:
Elementary School: Samples of the K-5 curriculum are available at the Elementary School office.
High School: Samples of the 6-12 curriculum can be found at the High School office.
Irene Ingle Public Library: For your convenience, samples spanning K-12 are on display at the Irene Ingle Public Library.
We encourage all stakeholders, including parents, students, teachers, and community members, to take this opportunity to review the materials and provide us with your valuable feedback. Your input will play a crucial role in our final decision-making process.
The samples will be on display for public comment and feedback until April 15th. Please take advantage of this opportunity to help shape the future of English Language Arts education in our district.
Thank you for your participation and continued support.

This class is through the University of Alaska and is starting next week! To participate in the course, there will be four class meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm - 6pm available via zoom leading up to traveling and attending the meeting in person in Anchorage.
