Lincoln Weekly Buzzz
Week of October 25 -29, 2021
Principal's Message
Dear Lincoln Families,
The first quarter of the school year is coming to an end this Friday, October 29. Report cards will be available to view via PowerSchool on Friday, November 5. Please take the time to review your student’s grade on PowerSchool and communicate with their teachers if you have any questions. Students who do not pass a course with a C or better will need to retake the course. Please contact Ms. Jarvis ejarvis@sandi.net if you need assistance with PowerSchool.
Halloween Costumes
Students may wear a Halloween costume to school on Friday, October 29. The costume must adhere to our school’s dress code (Page 14-15). Students must consider the following questions when selecting what to wear.
Is my costume insensitive towards people of any identity with particular regard to race, sex, socio-economics, gender identity and expression, age, culture, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, learning styles, physical ability, creed, and national origin?
Does my costume specifically objectify or mock a particular individual?
Students may wear face paint, wigs, hats. Students CANNOT bring weapons or replicas of a gun, knife, sword or other dangerous objects (e.g. chains, machete, etc.). Students should bring a change of clothes in case they want to change or in case the costume is inappropriate for school.
School Photos
Some students were unable to take their school photo on Friday. We are working with Lifetouch Photography to schedule another picture day in the near future

We hold tryouts to ensure prospective student-athletes possess a sufficient level of skill and athleticism to successfully absorb and execute a demanding basketball training.
A player only needs to attend and practice while working harder each practice to excel and compete at a higher level during games.
Why is Lincoln High School difference? Because its ran different - like a true Basketball Academy for "FOUR" years of hard work while maintaining academics toward a college education and where all level of players trained the very same to succeed.
If playing college basketball is a goal - then the coaches goals are simple. Players development, fundamentals, and athletic training and skills will match up with all players.
We understand that basketball is about tacticians, outstanding footwork, great understanding of the importance of angles, situational awareness, spacing, and amazing fundamentals.
Whether a game or practice players will be taught skills by training everyday (Except Sunday) for 2-3 hours for 4 years.
Lincoln High School trains on a daily basis where the areas of focus are different then most - with more time spent on all aspects of DEFENSIVE concepts and drills. Offensive plays, footwork, movement with and without the ball, and technical understanding of fundamentals. Also, to help ALL Student-Athletes with a significant competitive advantage. The following will be emphasized everyday, a breakdown on the games fundamentals with a detail teaching from ABC blocks perspective with the basics like a defensive stance, defensive footwork, offensive footwork, ball movement and angles, spacing, passing, ball handling, rebounding and proper shooting technique. All the way up to advanced teaching blocks like situational shooting techniques, pick and roll execution and defense, help defense concepts and fundamentals, player movement without the ball, double team technique, how to rebound against bigger opponents etc. We also focus heavily on strength and conditioning, speed and agility, and reflexive and flexibility training. Our primary goal is to make such fundamentally basketball minded player during high school and that college coach would love to have them on their team. Most importantly it will be a FAMILY atmosphere for all 4 years.
All Coaches have experiences in coaching and developing players of all ages and levels: Pro, College/Prep level, High School, Middle School, and AAU/BCI grass-roots levels for 30+ years.
Players are trained by coaches that have had world class players and have had players become Head Coaches as well.
College & Career Pathways
Project Based Learning allows students to experience core academic content by actively engaging in projects that are personally meaningful to them. The Center for Medical & Emergency Services team brought students together for a Project Launch with a surprise guest (virtual) appearance! Students will be exploring the essential questions, “What barriers exist for students in achieving physical and mental health?” “How does exercise and nutrition affect performance and well being?” This exploration will begin by choosing a focus for their own project with establishing baseline data. Students will research a variety of factors that impact physical and mental health and create hypothesis based on a factor they would like to test to improve their own well being. Students will execute that plan for a span of 30 days and journal their progress and results and then analyze their own data. Students will show case their learning in podcasts and on a YouTube channel to share with their community.
For more information, email College & Career Pathway Coordinator Lori Williams at lwilliams7@sandi.net.
