Roadrunner Review
Roadrunners are safe, respectful and responsible.
September 8, 2023
A Message from Mr. Watson
As we close out our 2nd week of school, we find ourselves fully immersed into the 2023-2024 school year. Teachers and staff have been developing positive relationships with our amazing students, while also teaching students routines to support a safe, respectful and responsible learning environment. Our students are responding wonderfully as they navigate through their learning journey.
Safety drills are included in our learning routines. Students have already participated in a fire drill and lock down drill. They did a fantastic job! Click on this link to learn more about safety drills: https://www.smore.com/v81j7
In addition, please review this important letter from Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney Kym Worthy regarding threats: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Shtr71xwyIcZUpdA0BvKixdIsd91GfuM/view?usp=sharing
Attendance is another huge focus as we move into this school year. We all know that coming to school each day greatly impacts student learning. Please review our new attendance policy: https://www.smore.com/k4y3s
Our partnership with you is critical to improving our student attendance. We will be providing fun incentives for students throughout the year to support positive attendance habits. In addition, you are invited to a Community Forum to learn more about our student attendance policy on Wednesday, September 13th from 6-7pm at the William D. Ford Career Technical Center, 36455 Marquette, Westland, Mi 48185.

Early Pick-up
If you have an appointment and you must pick up your child early, please expect delays and please come before 2:45 pm on full days. In the spirit of safety, our dismissal process involves all staff, and it is very difficult to have staff get a student early from their classroom to the office between 2:45 and 3:20 pm. Thank you for your support.

Student Birthday and Holiday Snacks
Birthdays and holidays are very important. We understand and respect that parents want to send things to classrooms to celebrate birthdays. We encourage families to send fun pencils, books, fun markers, stickers...etc. In the spirit of safety, do not send food items such as cupcakes and cookies to celebrate birthdays. We are a NUT FREE school. Thank you for supporting safety.
