Westfield Elementary
Dear Families,
As we approach the season of love and kindness, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the wonderful community we have at Westfield Elementary School. Valentine's Day is not just about romantic love; it's a beautiful opportunity to celebrate the love and kindness we share with one another, especially within our school family.
This month, we encourage our students to embrace the spirit of Valentine's Day by focusing on acts of kindness and spreading love throughout our school. Simple gestures, like a kind word, a smile, or a helping hand, can create a positive and nurturing environment for everyone. Let's teach our children the importance of empathy, compassion, and understanding as they interact with their peers, teachers, and staff.
We also invite families to join us in fostering a culture of kindness at home. Encourage your children to express their love and appreciation for family members, friends, and classmates. Share stories of kindness and encourage discussions about the impact of love on our lives. Together, we can create a warm and caring atmosphere that extends beyond the Valentine's Day festivities.
Thank you for your continued support in making Westfield Elementary a place where love and kindness thrive.
Warm regards,
Julie Lynch
Principal

Morning Drop Off at WES
The morning routine will remain the same as established at the end of the school year last year.
For all students 4K - Grade 6
Parents/Cars - Drop students at Door 7 - By the gymnasium
Walkers - Walk to Door 7 by the gymnasium
Students will be allowed to enter the school “proper” at 8:05 either from recess or from the gym/cafeteria. Anyone arriving after 8:05 will enter via Door 1, the main entrance.
There is no supervision for students prior to 7:45 am.
After School Pick Up
Dismissal will be staggered. The first students that will be dismissed will be the walkers. They will be dismissed at 3:15 and are expected to walk out door #1 and follow the sidewalks to leave the school property. We will have crossing guards (adults) at the corners of Hawk Lane and S. Charles Street as well as E. 2nd Street and S. Charles Street until 3:40 daily. We will also have 2 safety patrols (responsible 5th and/or 6th grade students) who will escort the students safely to the corners.
The buses will arrive by 3:20 in the main circle drive. Bus students will be dismissed beginning at 3:20. When all bus students have boarded their buses, the buses will all depart WES.
Parents/guardians that plan to drive their students will have to drive into the Gym parking lot, park their cars, and walk into the gymnasium via door 7 to pick up their children. For safety reasons we will not allow any students to walk to a car without being escorted by an adult.
3:15 Walkers dismissed
3:20 Busses arrive, students riding busses dismissed
3:25 Parents/Guardians picking up students go to the Gym parking lot and retrieve students from the gym
School Attendance
One of the greatest indicators of school success is excellent school attendance. We need your continued support and efforts regarding school attendance. Under Wisconsin State Law, parents can excuse their children for a maximum of 10 school days per year. Absences accrued beyond the 10 school days can result in referrals for truancy. Please provide documentation for any absences due to medical appointments.
