All Things Communication
Attendance
If your child is going to be absent, please call the attendance line (585) 217-4108 clearly stating your child's name, grade, teacher and reason for absence.
Student Drop Off and Pick Up
Any student who enters the building after the 7:50 AM bell is marked tardy and must have an adult sign him/her in at the main office. If you are picking your child up at the end of the school day, please come to the main office foyer at 2:00 PM with your photo ID. We prefer not to release students prior to 2:00 PM due to the impact on learning for all.
Changes in Dismissal Plans
If you need to pick your child up early, or your child's dismissal plans have changed (a different bus, or a different person picking up, etc.), please send a note in with your child explaining the change. Email is not an effective way to communicate these changes due to many factors. Thank you in advance for remembering to send a note in with your child.
If your child has already gone to school, and then dismissal plans change, please contact the main office secretaries directly by calling 872-1770 before noon. Again, we thank you for not using email.
Visiting for Lunch?
You are welcome to join your child during his/her lunch block. This time block will be communicated to you by your child's classroom teacher. When you come, please be prepared to show your photo ID and sign in at the main office. All visitors will be asked to eat their lunch with their child at the guest tables. Remember, this is a special time for you and your child, as a result, it is our practice that your child does not have a friend join him/her.
Breakfast and Lunch Information
Students have the option to purchase both breakfast and lunch at school. If your student qualifies for the free or reduced program, they automatically qualify for the same level of benefits for both breakfast and lunch. Breakfast and lunch can be paid for out of your child’s MySchoolBucks account (set up account by visiting MySchoolBucks.com) or by sending in a check (made out to Webster Food Services) or cash.
The cost of breakfast will be $1.75 and the cost of lunch will be $2.60 for the 2019-2020 school year. A variety of balanced meal choices will be offered that meet state and federal nutrition guidelines.
Breakfast will be served starting at 7:40am daily. Lunch schedules vary by class.
If you have any questions specific to the breakfast or lunch programs, please contact the Director of Food Services, Mark Balfour at Mark_Balfour@webstercsd.org or 670-5105.
Every Minute Counts!
Meet Rudy - Our KN Therapy Dog
We are excited to welcome Rudy back as our Klem North Therapy Dog. The 19-20 school year will be his second year with us. Rudy’s presence has helped students in countless situations. Whether he was there for a student who was injured or upset , listening to a student read to him, motivating students to do their best, visiting classrooms or greeting students as they arrived, he brought comfort, joy, and smiles. We are excited that he will be back at Klem North this year.
Rudy has a hypoallergenic coat and is certified through Therapy Dogs International.
As a Therapy Dog, Rudy is a tool to help support students’ social, emotional and learning needs, as well as being a joyful presence for all at Klem North School. Therapy dogs have been shown to decrease stress, help support students with anxiety, help de-escalate students in distress, and motivate students who face learning challenges. Therapy dogs have been effective in helping students with Autism, language impairments, ADHD, and motor impairments.

New Year, New Start Times
Welcome to the start of another school year together! Beginning this year, Webster CSD students at all 11 schools will experience new start and end times. New hours for all middle and high schools are 8:45 a.m.–3:15 p.m. and 7:50 a.m.–2:20 p.m. for elementary schools (Plank North and Klem North will be 7:40 a.m.–2:10 p.m.). Webster CSD spent the last year communicating the details of this positive change for the One Webster community. In addition, WonderCare, Webster CSD’s new before and after school program, will open its doors this fall as a way to help ease the transition to new start times for WCSD families as the district shifts to an earlier start time for elementary school and a later start time for secondary schools. Please visit www.websterschools.org/wondercare for more information.
2019-20 Tax Rates Approved
WCSD’s Board of Education approved the 2019-20 tax rates as presented by Assistant Superintendent for Business Brian Freeman during the August 15 regular board meeting. The approved, final tax rates for WCSD are (see chart below):
Additionally, the equalization ratio, as determined by New York State, changed for the Towns of Webster (81.5% to 77%), Penfield (95% to 90%), Ontario (100% to 94%), and Walworth (98% to 92%). These changes impacted the rates for all four towns located in the district.
Be sure to read this monthly column from your board of education shared in school newsletters throughout the year. We look forward to serving nearly 8,400 students, families, faculty, and staff once again this year!
