Our Learning Targets

Reading: We read a variety of realistic fiction texts. We can summarize and sequence the main events of a plot.

Writing: We can generate topics for writing through a range of strategies. We can use homophones their, they're and there correctly.

Social Studies: We can identify the importance of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. We can identify and explain the basic functions of the three branches of government.

Math: We can multiply using arrays, area models, number lines.

Science: We can measure, compare, and contrast physical properties of matter, including mass and volume.


Language Arts Homework:

Reading Log due Friday 9/15 - Students should read each night for 20-30 minutes. They will record their minutes read in their agenda and have parents initial. Mr. Avirett will check agendas on Friday. Students may read any book they choose.

Second Step

This week we will begin the district-adopted Second Step program. You can find information in the Family Letter (English and Spanish). This information will also be located on Ms. Torres' website under the Second Step tab.
