Mission Statement
We, the SHIELDS CAPtains, will participate in advanced learning, continuously grow, and move on to the next grade level, by being responsible, doing our best, working together, and learning from our mistakes.
This was created by the 2016-16 year students, so we are considering revising for this year! Stay tuned!

THURSDAY NOTE
Due to so many students being part of so many grade level teams, I do not send home Thursday notes with their homeroom teacher. Instead, you will receive this CAP Connections newsletter with class information and students will bring home any graded work from CAP on this day as well. I will also be using the Remind App (see below) to send individual messages to you in regards to your child. You will not receive a personal message every Thursday, but will be notified when there is something special to celebrate or if there is a concern that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. I want the communication to be in real time so you are aware of what happened in the classroom the day it occurred.
It has been a whirlwind of fun these last few days. It was awesome to see familiar faces and even more exciting to see new faces in CAP. This week is all about building our community, setting up routines, and getting to know what CAP is all about. I'm sure you have heard about all the fun with setting up binders and the page protectors...oh the page protectors! The students did complete a writing piece this week to tell me what house (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, Ravenclaw) they belong in. They will earn points with their houses to earn the house cup at the end of the month and be able to choose a Fun Friday activity. I really enjoyed reading their pieces! I will be making copies so they can come home and we will be keeping the original as a beginning of the year writing sample.
On Wednesday, your child came home with some paperwork with what we were calling the ABC's of CAP. It should have helped explain some of what we will be doing this year. It was also attached to an app handout with information on apps/websites we will be using throughout the year. Please let me know if you have any questions or need a nother copy!
The 5th graders have been busy creating a movie to give you a tour of our classroom so stay tuned for the link to "visit" our room!
I hope you have had a great first few days of school!
