I also found our time with Mr. Wilbanks to be very enlightening and encouraging. He shared with us about where we are going with eClass, his thoughts on the future for assessment, teacher compensation, and the unique situation we have found ourselves in this year due to missing so much school because of winter weather. I love and agree with his thoughts on why we should make up the missed time. If we just brush the missed days off and do not make them up we are saying with our actions that every school day is not important. How can we tell students and parents that we need them there as much as possible because every day is important if we are not going to back that up by making up time missed? I was most impressed with his familiarity of every little detail about our school system. He was telling us numbers and details for the last 5 or 6 years without having to look up any of the information. There is no doubt that he spends countless hours studying where we have been to plan for the direction we need to take in the future. We are very fortunate to have such an amazing superintendent leading our school system.
I hate I missed the Metro Superintendents' Panel. I had my c-section pre-op and had to leave. My study group shared that it was a very encouraging time. It was obvious that each superintendent was very grateful for the work their teachers do, and they understand the sacrifices made to be a high-quality teacher.
