The Spencer Scoop
Spencer Elementary - December 2, 2022
Dear Spencer Families,
Our Cold Weather Clothing Drive has ended and we could not be more pleased with the generous donations we received. With the help of our school community, we have well over 100 coats and snow pants collected. We are so thankful for your kindness and generosity for those in need.
Sincerely,
Danielle Schmidt

1st Place: $3,000
2nd Place: $1,000
3rd Place: $500
4th Place: $500
Help us to spread holiday cheer to those who need it most!

2023 Brighton Ski & Board Club
Below is the link for the club Parent Meeting on Wednesday December 07, 2023 at 6pm in the Maltby Intermediate School Cafeteria.
Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting as the registration process will be changing this year. Much like the Google form below, we will be utilizing the same format for BSBC Registration this year. We also hope to have this year's club pricing for our lift tickets, equipment rentals and lesson costs finalized. Please bring your frequently asked questions.

Remember Your Family Pass
PLEASE remember to bring your Family Pass with you EVERY day you come to pick up your student! Officer Ken will be asking to see your Family Pass number when you pick up your student before the end of the day. We also frequently have substitute teachers that will not recognize you and will send you to the office to get a temporary pass before releasing your child to you.

Holiday Shop
Our Holiday Shop will be held after school on December 9th (4-8pm) and Saturday December 10th (10am-3pm). This is a fun, inexpensive option for kids to shop on their own for their loved ones. We will have gift options ranging in price from $0.50-$12.00. We are looking for volunteers to help make this run! We are especially in need of cashiers and gift wrappers on Saturday. Gift wrapping is a great space for older siblings. If you are able, please sign up for a slot here!
White Elephant Gift Exchange
Each year, the PTO organizes something fun for the staff before winter break. This year we are planning a White Elephant style gift exchange and hot chocolate bar! We are still working out a date for the activity to take place, but we are going to begin collecting gift donations now. We are looking for enough gifts to make sure each staff member receives one. These can really be anything: useful or silly, yummy or pretty! (Just make sure it is school-appropriate!) We are asking that you either wrap them ahead of time, or make sure it is in a bag/box that is not easily see-through and send it in with your student. Gift cards are acceptable, but try to wrap it so it isn't immediately identifiable as a gift card. Try to keep a $20 limit on gifts. If you would like to donate a gift for this, sign up for a slot here! All gifts due NO LATER THAN December 12th.
Community Cares Bingo
If your student participated in the Community Cares Bingo, please write their name and teacher on the form and send it back in by Monday. We will be distributing gifts for participation next week.

Counselor's Corner
I am so excited to continue working with students this year to help facilitate and promote growth and learning! I am providing classroom lessons, small group activities, and individual support this school year.
As a reminder, your school counselor is here to support children in all areas of mental wellness that impacts their success in the classroom. We work with individuals as needs arise. If your child is struggling at school, we will work together with the classroom teacher to determine whether or not school-based services would be beneficial. We may also be able to offer resources or contacts if your family believes that outside support will best meet your child's or families needs.
The Elementary Counselor Team also has the BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have, and I will do my best to support your child.

Extra Change of Clothes
Parents - THANK YOU for packing a change of clothes in your child's backpack every day. Now that the weather is changing, please make sure that the clothes you pack are weather appropriate. This is for ALL grades, you never know when your student may have a nosebleed, or lose a tooth, or spill food on their shirt, or find a mud puddle outside, or have an accident. We have already had to contact quite a few families to come up with a change of clothing. If your student keeps a change of clothes in their backpack, then we can take care of it here, otherwise we will need you to bring up a change of clothing. Thank you for your cooperation.
