A message from Fr. Joe
Dear Parents,
A mother by two names: What would Mary do?
One name is “Guadalupe”, which in Aztec language means “one who crushes the serpent”. The other is “Immaculé Conception”, which means, “conceived in purity”. The two names refer to the same person: Mary, Maryam or Mariam in Aramaic. In 1531 the Blessed Mother appeared to Juan Diego, a poor Indian, a native of Mexico, at Tepeyac, a hill on the outskirt of Mexico City. In 1854 the Blessed Mother appeared to Bernadette Soubirous, a poor young girl living in Lourdes, a town South-East of France. To both visionaries the Heavenly Mother spoke in their native language; both of them were poor, humble and religious persons. It is obvious that the Blessed Mother has a preference for the lowly and the humble. The month of December stands out in the Church calendar for having two feasts in honor of the Mother of God: December 8 and 12.
As the Christmas decorations, lights and fir trees give a new look to our towns, let us not forget the woman who, in her humility, accepted the dual role of becoming the Mother of God and the Mother of All Believers. In the ‘80s, it became a fad for many Christian people to wear a wristband with the initials, W.W.J.D., ‘What Would Jesus Do?
Dear Parishioners and Parents, for Christmas 2019, ask yourself W.W.M.D., ‘What Would Mary Do?’ Follow your conscience and do what Mary would want you to do with regard to your faith!

Dear Parents:
We hit the ground running on Monday, and now that's it's Friday, I can bearly remember being off of school for a week! Next week, we will celebrate Mass on Thursday, December 12th. Please join us for this special Mass, The Feast of Our Lady Guadalupe. Mr. Norton, Fr. Joe and several of our 8th-grade students have practiced for weeks in preparation. We would love it if you could join us. Next week we will host our Christmas Concert on Wednesday evening. There's nothing better than listening to the sounds of our youngest students singing. I personally always look forward to this special event.
Godspeed,

Wreaths Across America
St. Jude Cub Scout Pack 133 will be placing wreaths on veterans' graves at St. Mary’s Cemetery, and hopefully at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Elyria. A sponsored wreath is just a small $15 donation and will help the scouts Remember the sacrifices our veterans have made. We will honor their lives in conjunction with the National Wreaths Across America event at Arlington National Cemetery on December 14th at 12 p.m. Your sponsorship will not only allow us to place a wreath, but it will assist us in restoring some of the headstones that have gone in disarray at these two cemeteries. Several of our Civil War, Spanish War, and WWI veterans' markers are slowly disappearing in the dirt. This will be a joint effort between the scouts and the students at St. Jude School as we Teach them the value of freedom.
Please consider sponsoring a wreath. Donations can be made online directly at our sponsorship page at Wreaths Across America. Our group fundraiser code is OH0127P.
