NASA Spinoff Promotion and Research Challenge - OPSPARC
The NASA Spinoff Contest is a perfect way to engage learners with science and design! Sign up your class to create and share new technologies with Glogster, and they could win a NASA experience day!
Traveling Space Museum at CCHS
Since 1998, the Traveling Space Museum has thrilled students by bringing full-scale and fully functional simulators into schools and using them as teaching tools. TSM simulators are as much fun to see as they are to operate! A "Space Day" combines the interactivity of a space camp and the thrill of a theme park. Specializing in the use of full–scale simulators as teaching tools, TSM’s many interactive attractions include the only full–motion flight simulator and the only jet aircraft to visit schools regularly. Interactivity is key as students are invited to climb in and work real hardware that an astronaut would use. Inside the simulators, the students are completely immersed in the experience. Many students are introduced to lab top computers, computerized microscopes, heart monitors, glove boxes, CB radios and other "high—tech" hardware. Operating the hardware teaches relevancy and that understanding is what makes learning fun!
Also on this day, the community will see STEM projects and products from all STEM schools around Cabarrus County in our indoor STEM Exhibit!
The cost to participate in the Traveling Space Museum is $5.00 online or $8.00 at the door. The STEM Exhibit is free to tour.
Please see the Central Cabarrus STEM Website for more information.

National Engineering Week at CWES
All classes competed in a bridge-building engineering challenge for National Engineering Week. Students used straws, index cards, tape, paper clips, and yarn to build a bridge to hold the most weight. We love engineering at CWES! Here are a few pictures of that event
2nd annual Charlotte WeatherFest event at UNC Charlotte
Please mark your calendars for March 19th and tell students about the Charlotte WeatherFest. There will be weather media from our local TV Stations, as well as the national weather service, and several other great attendees. There will also be a weather balloon launch! This invitation is brought to CCS STEM by the UNC Charlotte Meteorology Club 2016!
Genius Hour at CWES
All classes are engaged in Genius Hour projects when students get to choose what they learn about and how they will learn it. Our students are learning about everything from cooking to stop animation to riding a bike! Here are a few photos!

Monthly STEM Magazine
"S.T.E.M. Magazine is not a curriculum, but rather a resource of awareness that exists to provide clarity on the subject of how we already incorporate S.T.E.M. into every class, how to encourage the creative process and cultivate curiosity in both the teacher and student. In addition, S.T.E.M. Magazine strives to encourage educators about the urgent need for this inclusion in light of their responsibility to equip students fully for their careers." -Wayne Carley, Publisher
