Introduction to English 9 with Mrs. Allen
English 9's Content (Units of Study)
The Short Stories unit was the very first unit we did in English 9. It lasted roughly about a month and a half. The unit itself was fun and interesting. If I had to choose, the best short story would have to be "The Scarlet Ibis".
Another unit of study that we did in English 9 was Divergent. It lasted about a month. It was also my favorite unit. Mrs. Allen splits students up based upon their aptitude test results. Everyone has to be involved in order for you to have the best experience with it. You also get to watch the movie after you finish the book.
The next unit of study that we did in Mrs. Allen's English 9 class was the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. I didn't really like this unit at all. It felt like it lasted about three years, but it only really lasted about a month. I found "Romeo and Juliet" boring in a lot of the cases.
The unit of study that we just finished, in English 9, was "The Odyssey". I really liked this unit of study. It was fun and intriguing. It is all about Odysseus and his journey across many lands in order to get back to his wife and son. It involves a lot of Greek Gods and Goddesses.

My Advice
My experiences with English 9 could give good advice. That advice is to ALWAYS stay organized. If you don't, it will come back to bite you in the binder checks. Also, you should read your independent reading book. The book talks at the end of the month could really hurt your grade if you do not do well on them.
Top 5 List
- The number one way to make Mrs. Allen laugh is to make really bad puns.
Aside from that, here is a list of ways to stay organized.

- Keep your locker clean at all times.
- Get a homework folder for all of your work that is due.
- Get a planner to keep track of your assignments and all of your upcoming tests.
