This week was our schoolwide Zones week, each day was dedicated to learning about the 4 different zones. Mrs. Wollack and Ms. Hill shared resources with classes that were presented during the morning meetings. Each day Mrs. Wollack also shared information regarding what each color and/or zone related to and the strategies or tools we are teaching all children in order to better adjust to experiences and emotions.
Upcoming Non-Attendance Days for Students
Monday, September 5th will be nonattendance days for students. Friday is Institute Day for teachers and Monday is the Labor Day Holiday
Schoology
Lincoln Families, As you may have heard, we are now using a new web-based platform called Schoology. To learn more about this Learner Management System(LMS), please click here for some links to resources that will support your navigating this new platform.
FROM THE OFFICE:
Smartwatches and Phones
Technology can be a wonderful way to keep in touch with family members. However, smartwatches and phones can become quite disruptive to the learning environment when parents are contacting their children throughout the day (and vice versa). The Elementary School Handbook contains the following language:
Students are extended the privilege of possessing phones/smartwatches on school grounds; however, their use is limited to after-school dismissal and non-school days. These devices must be in the off position, or not used once the student arrives on campus until the end of the school day.
Teachers will be requesting that students leave their watches and phones in backpacks or another class-designated place each day when they enter the classroom so that learning can continue uninterrupted.
October 14, 2022 - Picture Re-take Day
PRE-ARRANGED ABSENCES:
Absences (other than sick days or doctor appointments) during the school year are considered UNEXCUSED unless a pre-arranged absence form is completed. This form allows students to make up homework missed during the absence. Forms must be received at least two school days prior to the absence. Pre-arranged absences shall be limited to 5 per year.
Here is a link to this form - D303 Pre-arranged Absence Form. Feel free to have your child turn this form in to their teacher or submit it to the front office.
FROM THE NURSE:
As a reminder,
All kindergarten students require a complete physical examination with up to date immunizations, a dental examination and a vision examination.
All transfer students should have their health records from the previous school transferred to Lincoln OR get a hardcopy. These health records will include a physical examination with up to date immunizations, a dental examination and a vision exam.
ALL 2ND GRADERS require a dental examination. It may be beneficial to schedule sooner rather than later.
Thank you for your patience during the season of forms! All forms can be found on the district web page under Health Services.
BIRTHDAY LUNCH
We wanted to let our Lincoln families know that you are welcome to bring a special lunch in for your child on their birthday or half-birthday only. One parent is also welcome to join them for lunch on that day in the lunchroom. Please refrain from dropping off lunches if it is not your child's birthday.
CHOIR
Attention 5th Grade Families! Does your child like to sing? Choir registration is happening now for all 5th grade students interested in learning more about team building, vocal technique, and unison and part-singing, all through a rich variety of vocal music repertoire! Choir will be held before school on Monday mornings at Munhall, starting Monday, September 26th! Click here for more information and to register your 5th grade student for choir!
You may email Erika Hammons with any questions you may have:

Open House--replacing former curriculum night-Thursday, Sept. 8
There will not be a formal presentation during this evening instead teachers and staff will use newsletters, emails, Schoology, or Seesaw to share the going on and curriculum of the year as it comes rather than sharing all of it at the beginning of the year.
Our Open house will allow families to come in anytime between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 8th.
Usually the self-guided tour and completion of the BINGO card will take about 20 minutes or so, again there will not be a formal presentation, staff will be in their classrooms, and common spaces and available to help in any way as you work through the BINGO activities. Upon completion please place your name and homeroom on the BINGO card, the class with the highest percentage of participation will win a popsicle party and we will also hold a drawing for 3 students to win a raffle.
