Place Value Disc Model? What?

We are exploring lots of strategies to solve division problems. One of the strategies that works well for many of us is the place value disc model. You may have seen it on the homework recently! This is a great tutorial that explains how it works, for any curious parents or students that need a reminder.

Thanks to Ms. Lotter for creating this awesome tutorial!

Peek at the Week

Math: In math this week, we will continue our unit on division. Division is directly tied to multiplication, so please continue to support your student by making sure that they are comfortable with their basic multiplication facts!

Language Arts: We will continue accountability in daily five this week! Each day, the students will track their choices and what they accomplished during each round. Students will have the option to listen to reading, read to someone, read to self, work on words, and work on writing. We are focusing on how to write a well constructed response using evidence from the text.

In writing, we will begin our new unit on opinion writing.

Science: We are wrapping up our unit on magnets with experiments on Monday and a short quiz on Tuesday. Next, we are moving on to learn about electricity!
