On January 25th the City of Harbor Springs received a Bomb Threat and the Harbor Springs Police Department responded to it. Fortunately it was unfounded. During the incident the schools had to be locked down for our children’s safety. As a result of this, Ms. Erxleben’s class sent the police department several nice thank you cards for the response to this threat. Some of the cards expressed comments about cops eating donuts and the fact that the class wanted to give the police officer’s donuts. This sparked an idea that maybe us police officers should share our donuts with the students at Shay Elementary. So on Thursday, February 4th Officer Tyler Swiss, Officer Mitchell McPherson, and Chief Knight delivered donuts to students and staff at Shay. Clayton, owner of Johann’s, provided a special price to allow this to be done. Chief Knight expressed how grateful the police department is for our youth and their interaction with the officers. We are truly blessed to work in a community like this and the support given to the police department.

Parent Reminder!

We want to remind all parents to pick up younger children (Blackbird students) BEFORE picking up older children (at other schools.) The little ones get very anxious when Mom or Dad are a few minutes late and can make them very upset! Please try to be conscious of this when picking up your children from school.
