Chapter 8: From Physics to Biology

"The Disappearing Spoon"

Synopsis

This chapter started out with the description of a Time magazine cover, a red nucleus and 15 scientists as the electrons. The two that the chapter is about are Emilio Segre and Linus Pauling. Both of them was after element 43, this element was known as the Lochness monster of elements Despite their amazing careers in chemistry they are remembered for their mistakes. Segre's being that there was no transuranic elemental properties in element 93. Pauling's mistake was publishing the tripe helix DNA Theory. Despite these mistakes both scientist came out to be very succesful.
