Students will be developing their IB core and addressing the key IB areas of communication, holistic learning and intercultural awareness. The Outward Bound Centre in Loch Eil, Scotland, was founded by Kurt Hahn one of the original founders of the IB. Hahn's main educational philosophies were based around the individual as a learner and the development of their civic responsibilities; he wanted active individuals “who felt responsible for the welfare and progress of society” (Knoll, 2011). As such our trip will concentrate on developing areas of the IB Learner Profile. The students will get to grips with the environment around them and participate in a range of challenging activities such as hiking, rock climbing, kayaking and environmental work.
