Weekly Update 12/11/22

Bobcat Nation:

Second marking period interim reports will be distributed via HAC on Wednesday, December 14th. If you have any questions about a particular class, please contact the teacher. This will allow them to provide you with suggestions on how to provide the best supports to help your child improve their performance. It may also be valuable to work with your child to set goals for the remainder of the second marking period.

Last week we had two wonderful musical performances involving the Northern Middle School Band and Chorus! The audience enjoyed watching the students share their talents and inspire goodwill as we celebrate the winter holiday season. Thank you to Mr. Hautmann and Mrs. Sigmon for preparing the students and conducting their performances.

Join us for the Winter Orchestra Concert on Tuesday, 12/13 at 7:00 pm in the Mary Harrison Center. We invite everyone to join us celebrate the holidays and the hard work put in by Mr. Wentz and the Orchestra students.

Have a great week!

NMS Art Display at the Board of Education - "Together We're A Masterpiece"

Congratulations to Mrs. Moller and her Art students! 208 of her Art students contributed to a collection of artwork that was recently displayed at the Board of Education. The students created individual pieces with bilateral and radial symmetry that were then combined into one large complex pattern. Their piece titled "Together We're A Masterpiece" is a wonderful example of how we are all unique, but connected!

PBIS & PTO teams - Donation Request

We are seeking donations for rewards for our students. NMS wants to continue our partnerships with our families and local businesses to support our school’s PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) initiative. PBIS is a statewide initiative to improve behavior and increase student achievement. We try to accomplish this by creating a clear system for all expected behaviors and rewarding positive behaviors and choices. We reward students for embodying the Bobcat ROAR (Respect, Outstanding Achievement and Responsibility).

We hope to provide very attractive prizes to keep the students motivated! Donations can include anything that will serve to reward and motivate the students ($5-$10 gift cards, individually wrapped food items, coupons for free items, tangible items, school supplies, etc…) If you want to check with us about an idea, feel free to contact Jessica Himes at himesj@calvertnet.k12.md.us

One easy way to donate is through an Amazon Wish List that is being facilitated by the PTO - https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/9H80XPJZUNWM?ref_=wl_share

We believe that involvement with families, businesses and the community can be a positive part of our students’ education. We will gladly accept donations year round!! Please drop your donations off in the main office.

We would like to recognize and thank the following business and individuals who donated to our PBIS program! We truly appreciate your generosity!

  • AT&T
  • Black Market Bakers
  • Chick-fil-A
  • Shelly Harvey
  • Brenna Scheideman
