MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT
It was a beautiful night at Cardinal Stadium to honor our servicemen and women during Military Appreciation Night on Friday evening.
The night began with a CHS and Warrensburg joint Color Guard.
During halftime the district also recognized two veterans for their service to our country and our community. Being recognized were Gene Henry and Archie Goucher.
APPLICATION OF LEARNING
Nothing beats real world experiences and application of classroom learning!
Clinton Technical School Health Occupations students used some of their newly acquired skills at the Henry Elementary and Clinton Intermediate School Health Fairs last week.
Students in the Building Trades class were caught working hard on the home they are constructing (click link below to see pictures). Upon completion, this home will be available for sale.
See more pictures here.
LITTLE CARDINALS LEARN ABOUT BIG DINOSAURS
Students in Ms. Jill's CECC class are learning all about dinosaurs.
As students learned about dinosaur bones, they used play-doh and pasta to create fossils.
Students also played the part of a paleontologist as they "excavated" chocolate chips from cookies.
See more pictures here.
CONSTITUTION DAY AT CIS
Did you know that Tuesday, September 17th was Constitution Day?
To celebrate, Clinton Intermediate School principal, Mr. Boyles read a Constitution Proclamation during morning announcements, and classrooms participated in a variety of activities.
Students in Ms. Voelmeck’s class enjoyed taking part in a Scholastic Classroom Constitution Contest.
MEDICAL DETECTIVES AT CMS
In Clinton Middle School's STEM/PLTW (Project Lead the Way) class, students are playing the part of medical detectives.
Students have been learning about viruses and bacteria and ways that doctors diagnose and treat each one. During their end of unit project, students were given a blank medical file with only vital signs and physical exam notes. Students had to work in partners to come up with the right questions to ask the patients in order to lead them to a diagnosis. After asking questions, students used their disease dictionary to make a diagnosis, and then they ordered a test. Students were given results to confirm their diagnosis. To finish the project, students then reported back to the patient to provide them the diagnosis and treatment plan.
Thank you to Superintendent, Mr. Brown, CMS principals Ms. Paschall and Dr. Anthony and CMS teacher Ms. Halbrook for generously volunteering their time to play the part of the patients.
The best news.... all students made the correct diagnosis!
"A" IS FOR APPLE
Kindergarten students at Henry Elementary participated in a week long study of apples and the letter "a". Teachers provided a variety of ways that students were able to incorporate apples into their learning last week!
Students enjoyed making and eating applesauce, apple pies, and apples wth caramel and peanut butter.
Students learned that labels provide information and used labels to identify the parts of an apple. Students also practiced counting and graphing as they graphed their classmates' favorite kind of apple.
Students worked on their letter formation by making the letter "a" in applesauce!
Students used real apples to paint an apple tree and worked on their fine motor skills as they tore paper to make paper apples.
Engineering was also part of the fun, as students were challenged to stack apples without them falling down. They used items in the Makerspace classroom to help with this task along with teamwork, problem solving, and some creativity!
DISTRICT ACCEPTS DONATION
The district's school social workers were happy to accept a generous donation from the Clinton Masonic Lodge and Masonic Home to help fund items for the district care closets.
The funds will be used to purchase items to restock the care closets, which are accessed by school social workers when students are in need of clothing, coats, shoes, hygiene products, school supplies, etc.
The Clinton Masonic Lodge has chosen the district care closets as one of their major service projects for this year.
Their generosity is greatly appreciated!

GET TO KNOW....KATELYN PANEK
Since the 1940's, there has been a member of this teacher's family either attending or teaching in the Clinton School District!
Katelyn Panek is in her 4th year of teaching Kindergarten at Henry Elementary, and is also the CHS cheerleading coach. Katelyn grew up in Warrensburg, MO, but now calls Clinton her home.
Katelyn's parents live in Springfield, MO. Her older brother and his family live in Peoria, Illinois, and she is the proud aunt to a niece and a nephew, Grayson (2nd grade) and Charley (preschool).
Ms. Panek's mom and sisters were born and raised in Clinton, so she spent a lot of her younger years here, which is one of the reasons she chose to teach in the CSD. Her cousin Michele Bramell teaches 2nd grade, and has always been one of Katelyn's role models. Before becoming a teacher herself, Katelyn always enjoyed visiting Michele in her classroom.
In her spare time, Katelyn enjoys coaching cheer to some amazing CHS students, playing intramural softball, enjoying the lake, relaxing with friends, and spending as much time with her family as she can!
"I love working for the Clinton School District because I get to work with an amazing kindergarten team that has become more like family. They are encouraging, supportive, and fun."
