St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 8 | 10 JUNE 2021
Be a bright flame before me, O God
a guiding star above me.
Be a smooth path below me,
a kindly shepherd behind me
today, tonight, and for ever.
Alone with none but you, my God
I journey on my way;
what need I fear when you are near,
O Lord of night and day?
More secure am I within your hand
than if a multitude did round me stand.
Amen.
From the Principal
Dear St Columba’s school community
I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend and enjoyed some well-deserved time with family and friends. The weather was sensational and a great opportunity to spend some much needed time in the sunshine.
June 9th is the Feast Day of St Columba. St Columba is our school’s Patron Saint and celebrating this feast day is an important event in our school’s calendar. St Columba was an Irish monk who played an important part in spreading Christianity through Ireland and Scotland. The day started off with a lovely whole school Mass, celebrated by Monsignor O’Loughlin, where he reminded us that the words on our crest ‘charity and peace’ reminds us of the important work that St Columba did to assist others and how we to can follow in his footsteps. With a focus on charity, our Year Six students organised a fabulous ‘Fun Afternoon’ with a number of different stalls for the students – and what a fun afternoon it was! Lots of laughter, games and special treats were on offer. Our lucky Kindergarten students had a ‘sneak peek’ at the stalls on Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed them! Well done to our fabulous Year Six students and Mr Beins for putting the time and effort into this event! All monies raised will be donated to Catholic Missions and LifeLink.
Each year, St Columba’s is required to provide information to the government through the National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) regarding students with disabilities. Any student that is currently on a Medical Action Plan may also be included in this information. Please understand that no personal information is provided to the NCCD.
Finally, can I please ask that you keep Mrs Rae Jas and her family in your thoughts and prayers on the loss of her beloved father over the weekend.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
God Bless
Rebecca Clarke
