Coronavirus COVID-19
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The COVID-19 health threat is extremely fluid and we know the uncertainty can be unsettling. Thank you again for your continued patience as we plan and respond to this unprecedented school closure to protect public health. We are in close communication with health officials and State government officials and will continue to update you as this difficult situation unfolds.
We understand this is a difficult time for everyone. Our teachers are eager to support our students as quickly as possible, but it’s important to understand that we are very limited by state and federal policy in how we can provide instruction during this closure. As we wait for guidance from the State and Federal government, we know you want to keep your child learning during the State mandated closure. We have compiled this list of at-home learning resources for all ages.
Our teachers and staff will be communicating with your child by Zoom virtual meetings or by phone on how they can support you in this challenging time. It is especially important during times of uncertainty that your child maintain a connection with their teacher and school. Our educators have and will continue to create learning engagement materials while schools are closed. The materials do not replace the experience of being in school but can help students maintain the learning that has taken place this school year.
- Web-based materials: A comprehensive set of learning engagement materials can be found here and will be emailed to families and shared using the “Bloomz” platform. Students and their families can select materials to explore while at home.
- Print materials: For families that do not have consistent access to the internet, a set of learning materials has been printed as “packets" for CES students. These packets are available March 20 from 12:00-2:00 at our school’s office. If you are unable to pick up packets during this time, they will be available at our food distribution site at the Chimacum Junior/Senior High School from 9:00-11:00.
- Continued development of learning engagement materials: To prepare teachers to support students during the closure, all teachers participated in a two day-long training this week to enhance their knowledge and skills for using digital tools for creating and making available learning engagement materials. We are planning to offer remote learning if and when the State and Federal government gives us guidance to do so. While each teacher may communicate with families differently, you should expect to receive communication from your student’s teacher weekly.

Thank you again for your support as we navigate this challenging and developing public health issue.
