May Newsletter
SK Seniors and Families:
This will be our final senior class newsletter this school year, so we'd like to take some time to share several reminders below.
We are back to a traditional in-person graduation ceremony this year with no limitation on capacity limits. Review the Tacoma Dome's website for information about Parking, ADA accessibility, Security and their CLEAR BAG POLICY, directions, and other logistics.
Last month the "Graduation Timeline" was sent via email. By the end of this month we will also be sending a "Graduation Bulletin" with more specific information about June 11th. Please check your email for this important information.
In this month's newsletter we have details to share regarding decorating your grad cap, SKHS approved graduation regalia (cords and stoles), Laurels Awards, Yearbook senior V.I.P. day, this year's Senior Video, and Prom. Be certain to scroll all the way to the end.
Contact us if you have any questions or concerns, you are so close!
Finish Strong Wolves.

Last Call for Laurels Night Submissions
Laurels Night, where we celebrate scholarships and academic awards, will be held in the theatre on May 26th at 6 p.m.
If you would like to be included, send your scholarship and award letters to Ms. Greene, along with what your plans are for the fall. greene@skschools.org or stop by the Guidance Office.
Submission deadline is May 20, 2022 to be included in the Laurels Night presentation.
Please be aware that the information you provide will be posted online and in the building, so by submitting your information, you are giving us permission to share your plans to the public.
New this year, we are excited to introduce the Performing Arts Stole (silver) and the Scholar-Athlete Stole (white). Students who qualify for this honor will be notified by their teacher/coach (or you can check with Ms. Robinson in the ASB office) These stoles are available to purchase from the ASB window for $10.
The list of SKHS approved graduation regalia and qualifying criteria is listed on the high school website. All other stoles, leis or cords should be kept for photos and celebrations before or after the commencement ceremony at the Tacoma Dome.
For the third year now, students will be able to decorate the top of their mortar cap to recognize any other organization/club/future career or college etc. Visit the school website for guidelines and recommendations for decorating your cap.
This year we are proud to revive our tradition of the “WALK of the GRADS”.
Following rehearsal on Friday, June 10th all graduates have the option to ride buses to their previous middle school (or to choose one if you didn’t attend our district) to parade through the building, getting congratulated by your old teachers and staff.
This is a fun way to begin graduation celebrations while showing the incoming middle schoolers pride in your high school and what it feels like to be a graduating Wolf.
SK Video production is looking for content for the 2022 senior video!
Please send us pictures or video from the time you’ve had here at South. These could be from dances, sporting events, school clubs, field trips or even just day to day in the halls of the high school.
This video will be shown at graduation rehearsal.
Use the Form link: https://tinyurl.com/SK22SeniorVideo to upload your content. Please keep the following rules in mind:
1. The subject of the picture or video should primarily be of or focus on current SKHS seniors (others in the background are ok). There needs to be at least 1 SK senior in it.
2. Content should be from time at the high school itself or other school sponsored events. Examples include pictures from the lunch room of two friends, an athlete holding up their senior night sign at a game, or a group of seniors on a field trip.
3. Must meet schools rules. For example, no weapons, gun, drugs, nudity, etc.
4. Deadline to submit content is Friday, May 27th.

State Grad Requirements
In case you hadn't heard!! Completing your High School & Beyond plan (Xello) and WA state history are both graduation requirements set by the State of Washington.
If you need assistance at this point you need to speak urgently with your counselor or Mrs. Nass in the Career Center. They are here to help get you over the finish line! Please don't let this be the reason you are not able to walk and enjoy the accolades that you have worked so hard for over the past 13 years!
TURN IN EVERYTHING and/or PAY ALL FINES & FEES
Please remember to pay off any outstanding fines and fees. Books and technology from second semester should be turned in by the end of the day on June 9th.

REQUEST A FINAL TRANSCRIPT
South Kitsap School District partners with an online service called Parchment. This online process sends your transcript quickly and securely to the destination of your choice (college, employers, etc.)
This service is for all transcript requests, official or unofficial, current students or alumni. Transcripts are the official Washington State document that provide proof of graduation. A diploma is a ceremonial certificate. There is one copy of the diploma.
**If you are a parent/guardian requesting on behalf of your student, please use the student's information when filling out the registration.**
How do I request a transcript?
1. When you create your Parchment account and request a transcript, our Registrar is notified.
2. Your request will be approved within 24 hours unless you owe any fines/fees to SKHS.
3. Upon verification, your transcript is sent automatically.
Click here for instructions on requesting a final transcript remember to select "HOLD FOR GRADES"
DIPLOMAS
Diplomas are prepared AFTER school is out for the summer and are available for PICK UP ONLY by the graduate. Diplomas will be released on Monday, July 18.
Family members may not sign/pick up the diploma without a written note signed by the graduate and provided to the Registrar. Diplomas are released only when outstanding fees/fines are cleared.
Grad Night Event
Message from the Grad Night Parent Committee!
The graduation party is intended to be an all-night event aimed at keeping students safe while celebrating their accomplishments. This year it will start at 10:15pm on June 11th at That One Place parking lot where students will load on to buses and head to their first destination. They will stay there until 2:00am then head to their second adventure. At 5:00am, they will head to their final destination, which is to return to That One Place for breakfast.
We have fundraised, and will continue to do so, to lower the price per person. We are asking for a $50 deposit due by May 13th. We will then know what the remainder balance for each student will be. Our goal is for each student to only pay $75 total.
Lastly, this event requires chaperones! If interested, please contact Eric at eworden06@gmail.com. Chaperones attend for free.
Your child may sign up at lunch on Fridays (we will have a table in the commons) or by emailing Kim at kimjdarcey@gmail.com. You may venmo your deposit to @SKHS2022gradnight, please add students full name.
We look forward to a successful night.
(This event is coordinated by the community and is not sponsored or endorsed by South Kitsap School District).
